WES FREAKIN GOODWIN.

I've met Wes several times.

I met him initially in his first stint at Clemson.

He would come into the store I worked at and was always really friendly.

We could never really understand what he did - we knew he helped out on Defense but he (and several other defensive coaches) would come in and it was always fun to pick their brain.

Wes wasn't very conversational but would smile and talk if you had questions.

I met Brent 2x (once in the off-season and once after he won the Broyles award)

He was the opposite - high energy - the exact thing you see on the sideline.

Also, an extremely nice guy. He's the man.

But Wes came back into our store after he came back to Clemson.

We started to understand that Wes was the real brain behind the operation.

Wes was and is able to see things that mere mortals are missing.

He's picking up on every cue and is an excellent tactician.

What he may lack in outward intensity he has in inward poise, drive, and will to win.

You're seeing the proof on the field.

Outside of a few busted plays or missed assignments he has been EXCELLENT this season.

Clemson is lucky to keep him and have him around.

We'll have a top 5 Defense next year - Wes will make sure of that.

Brent V's defense also had some busted plays and missed assignments!

I agree though. Wes is doing a phenomenal job and can't wait to see that Tiger D back in action this Saturday. Beat the billy goats!

Lol I can assure you - Wes has better film intel then the boys up in MI have.

The tough part is a few teams caught onto that... (See LSU/OSU a few years back)
