our goodest girl of 16 years down tomorrow.

I'm at peace with it, but telling my kids is gonna suck.

You can always do what my family did.

Our poodle went missing, was found later down the street in the yard of flow0440

We buried her in the back yard that evening and had a new poodle puppy by the end of the day.

Ts and Ps for your family. Losing pets (especially dogs) sucks.

The curse of being a dog owner/person, but we'll keep doing it, because...it's worth it.

Always difficult and doubly so around this time of year...

When I lost my girl a couple of years ago (October 2019), that video helped me feel better. Maybe it'll help you too.

She was a good ole rescue mutt. They told us she was

Dec 20, 2022, 9:56 AM

a sharpei/cocker spaniel mix but I'm not sure she had either of those in her.

She was smart as a whip, and there wasn't a time I had to get up in the middle of the night with a baby or a kid that she wasn't with me. If the kids were sick she'd be laying right at their side. Every night until the past few months she'd go lay down in they youngest's room around bed time to tuck him in and then move to my oldest.. often stayed on their side of the house until they were both asleep.

When she got too old to jump on the couch next to me, she'd lay her head on my foot every night.

So sorry for your loss.

So hard to lose a family pet. Share the memories of all the great times with your family. It seems to help us when we lose ours.

So sorry. We're actually picking up another puppy at the end of this week. Put down our girl after 16 years also on July of 2021. Decided we indeed wanted to get another this April and finally the breeder has a pup available.

Man, that is a tough thing to go through and really tough on kids. My condolences to you and your entire family. The unconditional love that a dog brings into our lives is an incredible blessing.

puppy anytime soon but I can't imagine that we will be people without a dog for very long.

I got one who isn't going to last through the winter.

Dec 19, 2022, 7:22 PM

I hate that we have to go through this. I'm sorry for your pain.

We put ours down earlier this month.

You may consider an at-home euthanasia service. I didn't know these existed until I googled, but the experience was so much better than taking him into the vet. He went out peacefully behind my desk just where he liked to sleep during the day. No anxiety that comes with going to the vet. And the service had him cremated and mailed his ashes back to us for burial.
