What bowls would you eliminate?

You need five for the champions of the little conferences. I feel like conference champs deserve a bowl. Sen Belt #3 doesn't need one.

I'd nix:

New Mexico
Famous Idaho
Military
Little Cesears
AdvoCare V100
Go Daddy

That takes us down to 29. Seems about right.

There should be no more than 20 bowls.

There should be 10 bowl games.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There should only be 15 Bowl Games

Dec 9, 2013, 11:16 PM

A 16 team playoff

Winner of Each Conference (11)
+
5 Wildcard or "at large" (based on rankings/opinion polls)

First round = 8 Bowl Games
Second round = 4 Bowls Games
Semi-Finals = 2 Bowl Games
Grand Finale (Championship) = 1 Bowl, the mother of all bowls

15 Bowls , but what Bowls would be the hosts, which ones would go away?

Think how insulted you'd feel when you're eligible and get passed up in an age where everyone without a losing record can play.

70 of 125 teams make a bowl

Dec 9, 2013, 11:18 PM

56%.

meanwhile 18% of college basketball teams make the tournament.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But then you have the NIT

Dec 10, 2013, 12:46 AM

There's also one or 2 other post season tourney's that have sprung up here. Percentage is still not as high as NCAA, but I'd compare going to the Music City Bowl or Belk Bowl like going to the NIT rather than the NCAA tourney.

I think it is so easy for everyone to forget how hard all these kids work throughout the year. For certain schools, they know there isn't a chance to compete for a BCS bowl game. But these bowl games are a reward for the kids and their coaches, and an opportunity to showcase their school on national television.

I'm not saying I care about all the games that much personally, but I'd rather watch mediocre football, than no football at all. Just remember, we are less than a month away from college football being over...

And then the Basketball Season kicks in full-swing!

Dec 9, 2013, 11:34 PM

I like basketball .... our Tigers are actually looking pretty good this year !

I'm fine with that many bowls. Yeah, playing in the Poulan Cut Down Trees Bowl isn't special for anyone, but watching it gives me something to do in December.

You know this is about the money, don't you?

Dec 10, 2013, 1:34 AM

You also know the helmet to helmet rule is about liability, don't you? They talk a lot of chit but it all comes down to money. That's a basic economic principle.

Let me get this straight

Dec 10, 2013, 1:43 AM

Somebody is beyotching about more football??????

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ah yes...'tis the season for people to complain about the

Dec 10, 2013, 2:49 AM

Opportunity to watch more college football, although no one is forcing them to watch it, it does not diminish the major bowls, provides something for the fans to enjoy, the players to enjoy and the coaches to build on, while being a nice economic boost for the cities that host them. I guess it interferes with everyone's focus on the NBA.
