Learned something yesterday

Apr 9, 2018, 1:51 PM

Evidently if you're in the children's hospital, and say the word "stitches" you are looked upon as satan by the doctors and staff.

Evidently, the new "kid-friendly" term for stitches is "string band-aids". Utter the word stitches and they will call security and have you escorted out of the hospital.

Side note....

Apr 9, 2018, 1:57 PM

I actually watched them give the happy juice shot and watched them sew up every stitch. AND NEVER HIT THE FLOOR. Didn't even get dizzy.

Another thing was the head doctor in the ER was there doing the procedure. Some nurse came in and said "Dr. Soandso, the neurosurgeon is the phone, and he wants to talk to you. Personally. NOW!".

Doc looked up from her stitches and told the nurse "Tell the neurosurgeon that Doctor Soandso is BUSY in a procedure and can't take his call. Tell him to speak to the resident physician!" and continued sewing.

Prepping my angus for the forthcoming bill. $1500 deductible will be met, I'm sure.

Sad thing, is if we end up paying $4K out of pocket

Apr 9, 2018, 2:16 PM

We will still save 3K over the last policy.

Changed plan from $500 deductible to $1,500 deductible per family member. Savings on that is north of $7k per year. I figure we have 3 more ER trips this year and we break even. We should come out better. Problem is wife of gets that savings in her paycheck, and I pay all the freaking bills.

You need the Allstate AD&D policy

Apr 9, 2018, 2:35 PM

Got paid $720 from that policy last yr when I sprained my wrist skiing.

We better hurry up and fight WW3 soon

Apr 9, 2018, 1:54 PM

or we won't have enough real men left. Know what a kid tried to correct me on last week at work.

I told the little chit to sit injun style and he said "you mean criss cross apple sauce?" I told him I meant injun style and he didn't even know what it meant. Didn't know what injun giving was either. Pathetic.

have you tried correcting son of and his ghey little friends? The kids I told thought indian style, indian giving, and indian rug burns were hilarious and will tell others. Maybe we can fight back.

I've also been teaching the kids a new phrase. "Messican Fast Pass". When someone at Disney butts in line claiming their friend is up front.

You should say "String band-aids, what are you, retarded?"

Apr 9, 2018, 1:55 PM

CPS may take your children from you over that, but the look on their faces would be priceless.

Doc was cool. Wife of was all scared DSS would be called

Apr 9, 2018, 2:02 PM

because he was just in the ER a month or so ago with a cut on his cheek.

What's really sad was kids were playing video games and wife of basically forced them outside to play. Said no more TV and pointed to the door. So they went out, rode bikes, and BAM, off to the ER. Doc told her that she actually did the right thing. I think doc was just counting the bills she can send us later in her head.

minions after my first trip to their offices in probably 6 or 7 years last week. Some of the stuff they asked and the way they asked it didn't give me any warm fuzzy feelings that they were there to help. I mean they did eventually via an antibiotic prescription, but the self righteousness and air of superiority many of them gave off was very off putting. Kind of like a "We own you" vibe.

I'm also more convinced than ever something nefarious is going on with the flu shot. I think the doctor lady would have taken it better had I told her I murdered her only child vs telling her I hadn't ever gotten a flu shot.

Redfern, in their infinite wisdom said she needed a test for blood clots due to severe leg pain.

OCH said the test wasn't needed, her legs hurt because of too much Pilates.

Still, they billed $700 plus a $159 co-pay plus another $220 for a resident to examine her. Oh, and don't forget the initial Redfern bill.

Geez.
