Juristiger mentioned that Gipson resembles Gallman. Maybe but if he resembles him as a player... hard nosed, dependable, all about business, no drama then we've got something. We've had a lot of explosive backs at Clemson and my favorite player is usually whoever is starting at RB, but if you absolutely needed 1 yard or 5 yards or 10 yards, you had one chance to get it and had your choice of Clemson RBs to get it, Gallman is pretty high up on the list for me.

Absolute best pass blocking RB we have had at Clemson. He had several key blitz pickups on Deshauns final drive to win it all. Gallman was a great back for us.

But he's my all-time favorite Clemson RB. Maybe because he wasn't fast, etc.
He was a punishing runner, fearless, and had a drive that few have. Whenever I go back and watch old highlights I shake my head at how he loved contact and that leg drive.
Truly special player.

No joke. Granted Nkemdechie may have benefited from playing for Dabo and not Hugh Freeze. I mean talk about a stark contrast in programs.

I will also had he can thank his mom for messing that up for him. He still has to look in the mirror and take responsibility but he would have benefited from being coached by brooks and Hob as well as getting crucial life skills that are taught in the Clemson program.

Gipson reminds me of Trayvon Mullen, same size, measurables, ball hawking skills, etc.. Kid ran a 10.65 100, which is elite for a DB, Mullen was in that same range.

With all the records that Travis Etienne set at Clemson, you almost have a tendency to forget Gallman and all of the great rushes he had. He was what they describe as a "violent" runner - fearless and got the yardage he wanted. Great running back and glad we got to watch him thrive here.

I believe he played both in high school.
On the flip side … I’d love to see what Keith Adams, Jr. Could do as a LB rather than seeing him waste away on the bench as a RB.
Everybody wants to be a star RB, but Termite, Jr. Has got the DNA to prosper as a LB.

We had great O lines back then Remember the Bostic Bros.? They both went on to become hogs for the Redskins. Lee Nanney , Jeff Nunamacher. They were all good

After Butler's catch at UofSC in '77 as the game ended, I ran out onto the field at Willie B and coming down the field was Marvin. He jumped up and I caught him in a bear hug! I saw him at the hotel after the '78 Gator Bowl and I got to remind him of it!

get it done. Like, sometimes I think RBs see a play collapse or a block missed and just take the L. WG always seemed like that didn't matter to him - he had the ball and he had to get yards, no matter what. Great player.

He was hit behind the line and should have gone down, but he didn’t and he kept a drive alive in a game where every first down was absolutely critical.

That play defines Wayne Gallman. He took a terrific hit that would have knocked down a tree, bounced off made something from nothing.
I'm happy he made a few million in the NFL and wish him the best in life.

If I were able to build a Clemson fantasy team with 3 RBs, I'm pretty sure I'd take WG. I'd probably also take Terry Allen and Andre Ellington, giving me a good balance of speed and power.

I love all the backs you mentioned but for fantasy football the three backs would have to be Etienne, Spiller, and Travis Zachery. Zachery is one of my least favorite Clemson players but his recieving yards and TDs would make him a FF star. The other two speak for themselves.

Gallman is probably my favorite player ever at Clemson. Just a solid football player. Gave everything he had on every play.

In fact, I’d say Frank Howard Teams were known for both type backs..
While Dabo will probably be remembered for QB’s and/or Defenses..

Great Wayne Gallman story. It was after one of the family days where you get to watch practice then go on the field and meet the players. My oldest son who is autistic who loves the player who wears #9. It’s just his thing baseball, basketball it doesn’t matter you wear 9 my sons loves you. Anyway we get down on the field and people was all over Wayne getting autographs. Pushing shoving my son was caught in the middle he began to freak out and started having a major autistic episode he was having major sensory overload. Wayne saw this told everyone to get back. Went straight to my son first got everyone out of the way got on one knee and gave my son an autograph on his #9 jersey. He asked to him are you ok. Anything else I can do tor you. I told Wayne the significance of #9 for him. He was like that’s cool. We took pictures talked to his grandmother and family. We exchanged numbers and Wayne and his family are friends with my son to this day. Wayne not only is a tremendous football player but an incredible man.
