I love how hippies have become the State's biggest cheerleaders. Gotta love that ideological consistency

Way to read the whole article.

Over three years of purchasing (10,11,12), they have discharged around 30% of those rounds purchased during that period. They have issued RFQ's for nearly 2 billion rounds over the next 5 years. Total rounds discharged over the three previous years was was averaging 120 million rounds.

2 billion / 5 = 400 million rounds a year for a department that has used roughly 120 million rounds a year?

Seems straight to me for government accounting.

Re: Homeland security Stockpiling AMMO. WHY?

Mar 26, 2013, 7:27 PM

The author of article you linked, says, "Personally, I think DHS is blowing smoke as evidenced in their own figures."

I assume you linked the article to show that HS is doing business as usual. Well, they are doing monkey business as usual. Why are they still purchasing ammo?

Now I ask you, what is wrong with this picture? Over the past three fiscal years, DHS has purchased over 361 million rounds of ammunition, according to them, but they still have nearly 264 million rounds in inventory at the beginning of FY2013 and are ready to spend $37,263,698 on more ammunition this year. In other words, at the end of three fiscal years they still maintained 73% of the total number of rounds purchased over the prior three years.

HS uses appx. 100 million rds. a yr. (361 purchased in past three yrs. and now have 264 rds. still on hand, so 361-264=97 million rds. used.

So, looks like they are going to buy another 100 million rounds that they do not need. What are they keeping the 264 million rds. in reserve for? Do they plan to use it on American citizens?

However, DHS has claimed that they do not maintain ammunition, but use it. The numbers say something different.

I don't trust the sobs, and you can post all the links you want that purports to show they are trust worthy. Problem with you is that you have complete trust in a communist government. Me, little to none.

Re: Homeland security Stockpiling AMMO. WHY?

listen JYT, the reason there are ammunition shortages is because every wing nut in the country stocked up when Obama was re-elected, coupled with the other wing nuts that watch dooms day peppers and think the world is coming to an end. The supply can not meet the demand in this insane, paranoia fueled society of gun nuts.

it really is not a complicated issue, but I understand how your delusions keep you entertained. So don;t stop doing what you do, i get great enjoyment out of your antics.

:)

So, let me understand your libbie illogic. Sterotyped americans who purchase ammo are nuts and caused the ammo shortage, but DHS who is hoarding almost 300 million rounds of ammo is AOK.

Gawd. You are stooooopid!

Have to agree with you on this one Tbalm. Further support for your point from this "right wing nut" organization. This article also addresses the armored
vehicle "build up"
