Watson- pro or not pro

Dec 21, 2016, 12:04 PM

is it possible watson may solely decide to stay at clemson if he finds out the cleveland browns have the #1 pick & are interested in a quarterback? i mean lets be real- the browns are where formerly promising quarterbacks just go to die- it´s a true death valley for quarterbacks, but in a horrible way.

peyton manning did the same thing when he found out the jets had the #1 pick in 97 i believe. decided to stay at tenn even though he already would´ve been the #1 pick. he avoided the jets, went to the colts, & i think he turned out alright.

DW´s a smart dude- you do NOT wanna be qb for the cleveland browns... period.... no real argument.

just sayin.. another yr in clemson vs 4-5 on the browns?? i think i´d stay in clemson too!

Same thing happened with Andrew Luck and the Carolina

Panthers. He didn't want to go to Carolina so he stayed another year at Stanford. Panthers had to settle for Newton.

According to Kiper & McShay over at ESPN, he shouldn't have to worry about Browns taking him @ #1 - they don't even have him graded as a 1st round pick.

If that does happen - which I don't think will - maybe he does return? But listening to Dabo and everyone else, they all seem to talk like he's gone and I find it hard to believe that Watson wouldn't lead them on.

Well, in his presser, he was 'leading us on'...

.... so, he put it out there!

My immediate thought was what does this do to Hunter Johnson's mindset on his commitment - not to mention Trevor Lawrence.

Face it (and THIS fan would RELISH DW4's return to play next year), but if he stays, he plays.... but then what the following year?

Interesting. But gonnabe a HUGE challenge for the coaching staff to keep ALL the QBs here at, and coming to Clemson....

....just as losing juniors to the pros is a great thing and a good 'sign' for the quality of athletes choosing to come to Clemson, it is still problematic.

Whatever choice(s) you make makes you. Choose wisely.

I dont think DW4 coming back would change anything about Trevor Lawrence because he doesnt come until 2018. Now Hunter Johnson might be different because with DW4 gone, he will be competing with ZCoop for the job next year with a real shot at it... if DW4 stays, he will be competing against ZCoop and TLawrence in 2018 for the starting job. Also you have Chase Brice in both of those convos.
