Wake or State? Who helps us most?

Nov 2, 2022, 9:31 AM

If one of them were to win out who do you feel would be the more respected win on our resume? I kind of feel that it would help us the most if State wins out. People just do not seem to take Wake as a serious program. I feel if State wins out they would have the better shot at landing closest to the top 10 and would be viewed as a better win than if Wake runs the table, especially after how bad that Louisville loss would look.

I get your point but

Nov 2, 2022, 9:32 AM

State is terrible. Wake is actually a decent football team.

After the 6 turnovers in the 2nd half of last week's game, I'm thinking that Wake is a pretender. Worst display of football from an ACC team in a long while.

Screw Calford.

State just isn't the same team without Leary at qb. BC is

Nov 2, 2022, 9:38 AM

the only game left I see them winning.

That VT game was painful to watch in the first half and then when VT went up 21-3 it looked like State’s season was over. However, that freshman QB, Morris, came out of nowhere and really looked good, gave their offense a spark. He had offers from Bama, Georgia, Michigan and a ton of others. I’ll be interested to see how he performs against Wake this weekend. He may be what they have been needing this whole time. He’s really good.

I do think he's good but I think State would have a hard time beating Wake anyway (unless they get 8 turnovers) at Louisville will be tough and it will be interesting to see how they play with unc. Not saying they can't win, just not expecting it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wake, NCS doesn't matter

Nov 2, 2022, 9:44 AM

With Leary injured,NCS is locked in to what they were with him.

Buy really NEITHER one of them matter, Clemson wins and they're in.Stop buying the Media Drivel, they were proven wrong last night.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pull for Wake because State stinks without Leary

Nov 2, 2022, 9:45 AM

and probably won't finish the season ranked.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Their freshman came in in the second half of VT

Nov 2, 2022, 10:25 AM

and looked pretty good. curious to see how he pans out

Wake will win by 3 TDs. Without the QB Nancy State has no offense.

Re: Wake or State? Who helps us most?

Nov 2, 2022, 10:08 AM

Neither Wake nor State. What you need is for my Tar Heels to run the table and come to the ACC championship as a top 10 team. You then need to beat the Heels, which you most definitely will. We still have Wake and State to play. If we lose to one or both and still make it to the title game we will be a watered down coastal champ. That will not help Clemson.

Idk man. Your heels are looking pretty good now. Definitely not a guaranteed win for us

Re: Wake or State? Who helps us most?

Nov 2, 2022, 2:52 PM

Offense looks great. D can’t stop anybody especially a top 10 team. I do think Clemson needs UNC to be a one loss team going to the championship. If there’s any doubt about Clemson’s playoff spot at the end, playing a 2, 3, 4 loss coastal teams won’t be good for y’all.

Re: Wake or State? Who helps us most?

I am with some others here, State is not nearly as good without Leary. Wake was terrible at Louisville, but I think they thrash the pack this weekend.

Re: Wake or State? Who helps us most?

Nov 2, 2022, 10:25 AM

Neither helps us or hurts us. The only team that can help or hurt us is Clemson. If we play up to our potential then we will win out and be in the playoffs. If we play like crap by only playing a half of defense or turning over the ball on offense then we will lose and be out of the playoffs. WF or Nancy St has no impact either way.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Normally, State. But without their QB

Nov 2, 2022, 10:31 AM

nothing I've seen from the backups suggests that State can win outside of the terrible ACC. I'd say Wake unless their QB has completely lost it.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think you saw the last 1.5 quarters of the State/VT

Nov 2, 2022, 12:47 PM

game when they handed things over to qb3 the true FR. He's the real deal and once they fell so far behind they realized they couldn't play conservative. Kid has a rifle, great mobility. Sure there will be ups and downs but as long as they let him play and not just go too conservative/rely on D to win then they may be ok. Still think WF will beat them but 8-4 is real possibility with 4th loss being UNC.

I have FSU at 9-3, WF 9-3, UNC 11-1 - those will be your ranked Clemson opponents EOY with a several others with winning records which the committee pays a lot of attention to but seems to be ignored by "the experts". I say all of this for seeding purposes. We will be in as an undefeated no matter what.

Re: Wake or State? Who helps us most?

Nov 2, 2022, 2:57 PM

I don't think it matters what anyone that we will have played has done. We either win out or we are definitely done. We win out and we will be put in there. There is no reason to even really think about our SOS. It's a novelty for us.

NC State won't win out. They don't have a QB...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Wake or State? Who helps us most?

Nov 3, 2022, 9:23 AM

It’s possible they do, if you saw the last 20 minutes of the VT game. QB3 led them to 21 points in about 10 minutes. He was highly recruited.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Wake or State? Who helps us most?

Nov 3, 2022, 9:30 AM

First of all, if Clemson wins out including the ACC Championship game then they'll be in the CFP regardless. To answer your question though I'd say Wake because I think they have the best shot at finishing the season in the top 25 since NC State lost their QB.

I think the Clemson resume will be fine though unless more unexpected things continue to happen like when Wake got blown out by Louisville this past week. I think FSU has a strong chance at winning out and finishing in the top 25. They finish with Miami, Syracuse, Louisiana, and Florida. The Syracuse game on the road won't be easy, but they should be favored in the other 3. They could likely finish in the top 25 even with a loss against Syracuse assuming it's not a blowout.

North Carolina should go at least 3-1 the rest of the way which would have them ranked at least in the top 20 when we play them in the ACC Championship game. The 1 game in question is their road game against Wake. If UNC manages to win that game then they would likely be ranked in the top 10 when we play them.
