Very stirring. And a different feeling...

for everyone who spent time there. I'm glad that a 20 year-old from Texas can come to Clemson and find himself at home. It was my home too. My first home when my dad was a ME grad student in 1964. My first home was in the little brick duplexes that were married student housing at that time. I celebrated my first birthday in that little cinder block structure with the brick exterior, but I don't remember any of that. I've got picgtures though.

When my time came for college, I made my own memories. One that sticks out is one summer when I was taking classes. Cliff Ellis was conducting Clemson basketball camp that week, and there were goals lined up in a couple of rows in lot 5. I went down there one time with my basketball and shot some hoops, just me, all alone in that parking lot beside the west end zone bleachers of Death Valley. I had that whole lot to myself in the middle of a hot summer day. I look at that place now on game days and in many ways it is hard to recognize. But I can do it with a little imagination.

It's funny the things you remember about your time there. Playing music, going to games, parties at the apartment and staying up all night studying for finals. And the feeling on that last day when I walked across the stage and got my diploma from Marx Lenin.

I too grew up in Clemson and graduated in 77. I have great memories of that same parking lot when it was used by I believe it was the Clemson Foreign Car Club. They would race MGs on an obstacle course that was set up in the lot. Great times & memories! Go Tigers!
