UVA and west coast teams ...

Jan 24, 2014, 11:07 AM

Man, the Cavaliers love scheduling west coast teams ... in recent years, they have played Oregon, real USC, BYU, and now they have UCLA in 2014 ...

any chance the Tigers ever venture west of the Rockies?

I wish we would play USC***

i think the playing field is a tad bit more level for us now

Jan 24, 2014, 12:16 PM

,more than it was in coach howards' days. don't you think so? we were severely limited on who, and how many, players we could recruit and limited in locale of those recruits as well.

that I remember I said. Unfortunately I went to the A&M game so that makes my qualifier really sad. Though the way it went I guess it is somewhat ok to forget it

We went to Oklahoma one year while I was in school. 1972 or 1973, I can't remember which.

Also, for revenge and just because I like the mountain-woodland setting--I think a trip to play the Golden Bears of California would be cool.

I doubt it with the riches of 1-AA teams we have in the area like Furman, Citadel, SC St, Ga St, etc. (sarcasm)

Georgia State is a member of the Sun Belt, not FCS. Glad we're playing them instead of Coastal. I'd like to start playing Georgia Southern.

I think Clemson should set up a home and home with the Air Force Academy.

Disclaimer: I can practically see the Air Force Academy from my front door.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I only see three times we've gone west of the Rockies

Jan 24, 2014, 11:40 AM

1951 to Stockton, California to play Pacific (we lost)
1966 to go to LA and play Southern Cal (we lost)
2001 to go to Boise to play in the Humanitarian Bowl (we won!)

Other than that (and, if you include it, our trip to Tokyo to play Wake in the "Mirage Bowl"), we're never out there.

Technically everything is west of the Mississippi

Jan 24, 2014, 2:07 PM [ in reply to is Tokyo west of the Mississippi?....lol*** ]

in that you can start at the Mississippi, travel west, and get anywhere.

I was answering the question of "west of the Rockies" by the way.

And I included Tokyo in case the spirit of the question is "played somewhere very far away."

The Pac is just like the SEC.

Jan 24, 2014, 2:17 PM

If they schedule a home and home with someone it's because they suck.

When UGAy scheduled us we sucked. You couldn't melt and pour another SEC team on us right now. They are puzzies and boast of their strong SEC schedule. Check how many top 25 teams Bama played last year, now check their record against those teams.
