Urban Meyer: BCS is a "flawed system."

Nov 18, 2013, 11:00 PM

Hmmm. Interesting. I don't recall him ever speaking out against the system when his Florida Gator teams were the beneficiaries...

What he says is true, but coming from him, those words are thick with hypocrisy.

it is not a functional or "good" as it once was. But he admitted he and many others had a role in making it worse.

I think the conferences have become a joke too.

I'm glad that the conferences have grown, but I would prefer they remain more regional. (Northeastern, Southeastern, Midwestern, etc)

I would also like to see the conferences go with fluid divisions so that the best 2 teams play in the championship games.

I can't imagine too many people are going to be excited to watch FSU/Duke or Alabama/South Carolina.

since we're discussing some of our "pet peeves",

i am gonna throw out bowl affiliations in the rink for mine. it get's old going to, and having the chance to only go, to limited bowl games in limited cities against limited teams. bring back some of yesteryears match-ups that we have only seen once, or maybe an even an opponent we have never played.

Thats what you will get if you are in the top 10 or 12 of

polls.

After that, it is off to Orlando to play the Big XII.

not entirely true there, buffalo creek tiger. we are there

right now, and we are still getting mentioned for the same bowl possibilities we were in last year at this time. if you're acc,you go to these particular bowls, and certain bcs bowls -unless you are #1 or #2 sec- you go to these certain bowls b10-these, big12...you have to know what i am talking about, or you are trying not to. t-net has slammed swoffy repeatedly for some of the acc bowl tie-ins. where have you been ?

In defense of the Big Ten, Michigan State should be undefeated, 2 horrible pass interference calls at Notre Dame robbed them of a win. Wisconsin jobbed at AZ. State and they would only have the 1 loss to Ohio State. Vanderbilt (not an SEC power) cancelled on OSU therefore the game with Buffalo. Cal was scheduled 8 years ago and they were at least decent at the time. I have personally analyzed every top 10 's schedule and there are plenty of cupcakes to go around.

There's no reason (IMO) to have Notre Dame in a conference called the Atlantic Coast Conference. (although I understand why they joined - football brand and money)

They should be one of the foundations of a conference in the Midwest IMO.

The same holds true with many of the SEC teams now.

I would prefer the conferences remain regional (and the conferences devised a better way to have the best two teams play in their championship games) and the winners of those regions play at the end of the year.

I agree, Urban. If a team with a schedule like Ohio State's can be ranked 3rd, it's definitely flawed.
