Just had it explained to me that Backstreets was a really "Geedy" bar. She also had no idea what I was talking about when I told her that TTT's plays the same music at the end of every night. Had no idea Clemson greek folk were so insular until I dated this one.

I care more about people making their impression upon me. I hardly ever hung out with anyone in my fraternity other than my 3 or 4 close friends. I think they are a bunch of idiots that cant get their head on straight and are running our chapter into the ground.
I was part of the re-chartering class of our chapter because the #### heads in 2004 got us kicked off campus and suspended due to some stupid/extremely racist ####. The first few groups of us cared about the fraternity, the meaning behind it, and real brotherhood. Once we started to grow, people tried to be cool and tough and didnt care about what KA was all about. The older group of us have completely separated ourselves from this idiotic bunch other than one or two of them.
When/if we meet, youll understand Im a very down to earth guy that, other than the way I dress, is a stand up person.

point. We never got the numbers very high, which was part of the problem. Compounding that was the fact that none of us were going to shell out thousands of dollars a year for it.
Now we had 3 distinct factions of people. Some that really hated drugs, of course these were the old guys that got things moving again. The we had some people who liked drugs, some way too much. Lastly you had us in the middle who didn't care as long as it didn't bring any heat on us.
This all came to ahead a few hours after "The Catch 2." Some idiots were smoking on the hall and some other idiots got pissed and called it in.

So then, my cousin brushed the geedy's cocaine in the sink and rinsed it down the drain. The geedy stood up all tall, and ice grilled my cousin, so he ice grilled him back. Then my cousin opened the door, and the geedy started to walk out, but my cousin pushed him out. Then, 2 other geedies came out of the stalls, looking at my cousin like they were going to roll on him. Then my cousin said, "hold up, I'll be back". Again, I never thought the Greek people at Clemson were stuck up enough to even use that. However, she was telling me that a lot of her friends refused to go there because it was too "geedy," even for the $3 pizzas and $6 liquor pitchers.

We liked our smoke as much as any other hippie, but we also liked fighting and drinking. If you were wearing short shorts or those stupid square sunglasses in our vicinity, something you didn't like was going to get said. It's always best when you have a flock of them though, frat boys are much too timid and scared to react alone.

on the outside looking in have. Our dues went to parties, yes. But when I was paying dues, the majority of our dues went to a housing fund (cause we didnt have one), ritual regalia (because ours were taken when we lost our charter), ritual books (cost a smooth $2000 each), philanthropy (because if we didnt raise enough, nationals would put us on social probation. The group before me had to drive from Raleigh to Lexington, VA twice a month in order to get training from nationals, so dues went there also.

It always looked like to me that fraternities and sororities were a lot of fun, and that they were good ways of building community on college campuses. They promoted a particular picture of manhood or womanhood, and that's something college kids need.
What I don't like about the whole greek thing is when people would get way to into it, to the point where they're using terms like "geed," or refusing to go to bars or restaurants that their brothers and sisters don't go to, or when they don't even know anybody outside the frat or sorority.

Seriously though, how does one go through "rush" without murdering one of your 'brothers'? I heard of people having to drink dip spit, etc....First off, I'd have said hell to the no, secondly I probably would have attacked someone for even proposing the idea.

pledging is the hard part. I drank a lot of #### I had no idea what it was. The only time I have ever dipped was while pledging. Driving until 3 am was fun, let me tell ya. Being called by a brother with my #### in some slut was a harsh reality I had to face. Sprints. Lots of money down the drain buying cigarettes and dip. Cleaning a lot. Eating #### I never would have dreamt was edible in a hundred years.
Took a lot of patience... but I made good friends with the president (im actually in his wedding next year) and he got me out of a lot of stuff. Was it worth it? No. Did I enjoy my time in my fraternity? Yes.
