UGA lost FIVE games last season, and they are favored???
Jul 21, 2014, 1:16 AM

And they lost their BEST player in Murray. Without him they are just another bump in the road. AND they lost to freaking Vandy - whoa. Really??? And the Dawgs are happy about that miserable performance and think they are all that??? Somebody has blown some serious SEC smoke up their butts.

SEC bump plus they were injured last year

Clearly their injured players spent that recovery time chanting "SEC, SEC, SEC" which means they'll come back bigger, stronger and faster.

Other than the running game I just don't see it either. Their D was bad last season and will be the same players mostly in a new system. So I don't see how if any that will improve much. It will be a tough game but one I see us winning.

...at our place. We DID lose 2 phenomenal players from our offense....and the game is at their house.
We will have to play at peak performance to win this game.

They were a very good team last year until

Injuries hit. They lost to Auburn on a fluke play. I still think we should beat them: - both losing starting QBs: even - us losing Sammy but we have reloaded at WR: even - Defense: we improved tremendously over the season and I expect another bump. I didn't see much improvement from the dogs: advantage Clemson - venue: advantage GA We would have won by 10 last year wo the prevent defense so I am expecting the Tigers to win by 7.

Then no one reloads. That's what reloading is, new players stepping in that havent played but are expected to be at similar or equal skill level to the player/players that just left.

To be honest we controlled the whole game last year...

The only way we lose last year is if we completely choked. And we gave away a TD at the end of the game. It was more of a 10 point victory than a 3 point victory. We were just the better team. They still don't have a good defense, and they have ton of DB's suspended against us. Hunter Mason resembles the hack UGA had at QB after Matthew Stafford left.

How do you know if our defense will be bad or not? Yall do realize that your team beat a bunch of freshman and sophomores and one senior and a couple of juniors on that defense from last year right! And we don't have any db's suspended, some of the db's from last year have either transferred or got kicked off the team.

Kicked off, suspended. Too many UGA players in trouble....

for me to keep up with. Suspended or kicked off (transferred, now thats a good joke), that doesn't change the fact that your pooches are still going to be very thin at DB. Also, why don't you jawja fans let Mark Richt change the win at all costs culture that is costing your team to lose valuable players. It would be nice if UGA and it's fans actually had integrity like their head coach.
Now go fetch doggie.

Haha you're funny! Uh what are you talking about with the win at all costs comment? We're not Auburn or lsu or South Carolina, who takes everyones rejects or let's the team vote to let a child rapist back on the team or not or a team that or should I say a coach that let's his players get away with everything! And for the integrity comment, ever team has fans like that.

They lost to VANDERBILT! Your point is valid.

Yep, that happened, 31-27. And please, sec homers, don't gimme that bs about, "Dude Vanderbilt is good." They, ThUGA, barely skidded past an awful Florida team 23-20. And the mutts needed OT to eek past UT. AND needed double OT to get past GT. Then concluded the season with a horrendous game vs Nebraska.

Also had the team that was just 13 seconds of winning the National Championship beat at their place until a fluky catch lost the game for them.

Even if jawga had beat em, ThUGA still inexplicably lost several games and won some close games versus sub par teams in Florida and UT. Heck, they needed double OT to beat GT. Nobody does less with more than the mutts. If you wanna talk close losses go ahead. But in the end, it doesn't matter. Had they beat Auburn, would it make them better or more respectable? Not to me. Its not like a win there puts em in the NCG.
They're still the same flopping team with a horrible D and a 60% QB returning. Plus summer arrests and transfers will ALWAYS hamper them.

In SEECG vs Bama, UGA was lucky to be "13 seconds away"
Jul 21, 2014, 10:07 AM
|
|
Bama rolled up like 600 rushing yards on UGA's D. UGA knew it was coming and had no answer.
If not for Bama continually shooting themselves in the foot and keeping UGA in the game, it would've been a blow out.
The better team won that game.

Well if our qb is only 60% good, I guess that makes yalls qb only 20% good uh? The only transfer we've had was a wr who was cashing the same check twice, and the only suspension we have is a wr who was caught smoking pot last year after tearing his acl. And about the losing games and close games well what do you expect when you lose your 1st and 2nd string rb's and 2 or 3 first string wr's and your qb for the season. Gurley did come back after missing 4 games! But don't let that stop you from acting like a kid now ya hear.

They also had an insane amount of injuries. Coming into the year, their defense was considered a weak spot but their offense was supposed to be incredible. Against us, they lost their best WR and Gurley got bumped up as well. After losing to Clemson, they went on and beat both South Carolina & LSU. UGA was for real...then the wheels fell off.
After the first four games, they lost Marshall & Gurley for the season and another two starting wide receivers (so three of their top receivers were gone). Eventually with a game or two left, they lost Aaron Murray. Yes, injuries are part of the game, but not many teams lost what Georgia lost last year.
If they remained even relative healthy, there's a good chance they wouldn't have lost another game after ours. It's doubtful they'd lose to Mizzou at home, no way they lose to Vandy, and, as others mentioned, Auburn needed a once-in-a-decade miracle to beat them.

Oh agreed on that count. I don't really know what to expect this year because both teams have so many unknowns. There's a lot of "if player X is who we think he may be..." for both teams. Outside of saying "Georgia has a great set of running backs" and "Clemson has a great defensive line", it's a whole lotta speculation between these two teams. There's no doubt there's prospective talent on both sides, but a lot of it--namely the two starting QBs--is unproven.
However, that wasn't what I was questioning. What I was questioning was people alluding to not taking Georgia seriously because they had 5 losses last year. They had five losses because they were totally decimated by injuries, not because they weren't a good team.

I can give you several reasons
Jul 21, 2014, 8:37 AM
|
|
1) They are playing at home this year
2) We've had just as much roster turnover as they have. I think our defense should be a bit better than theirs if we get improved secondary play, but their RBs are unquestionably better than ours. Both teams are replacing record setting QBs.
3) It's college football so what they did last season means almost nothing
4) And if you really want to analyze last season, they were very good before they got decimated by injuries.

Thank You, thank you, thank you for this comment!!!
I look at their record and see a 6-5-2 team hosting an 11-2-0 team. Sure that's last year ... and sure things are different each year ... and sure they are at home ... but favored? Really?
I feel like the Texans and that famous cannon who sent the message to the enemy "You want this? Come and get it!"
Hey Georgia! You want what we have? Come and get it!!

beat the coots by 11 and beat LSU, all in Sept

After a loss to us, that's a big month to start the year. Gurley ran all over SCU and seemed to relish in making their D look stupid. UGA always has a ton of talent and depth, I like how we match up w our front 7 versus their RBs, which are probably the best 1-2 in CFB right now, but this would be a huge win.
