The "Thinning Of The Herd" Oct 19th Edition (Told You So)

Oct 13, 2019, 7:51 AM

My weekly public service to anybody out there who believes there will be more than 4 undefeated teams at the end of the year vying for a place in the College Football Playoffs. It won’t happen, despite each year around this time people beginning to wonder as undefeated teams blow out their competition.

The inevitable will happen….it’s called “the thinning of the herd”

Recap Of Last Week
I said last week that Drama was coming...and boy did it ever! What I did not expect would be the center of that drama would be the Gamecocks. So now we will listen to all of the ways the Bulldogs can get back into contention, never mind the fact that they only scored 10 points in their own stadium against a bad football team.

From the herd, we lost Florida, Georgia, and Wake Forest (who lost on a last second 3 point shot to Louisville 62-59)

So, as expected, the Herd dropped into single digits from 12 to 9. And we are just getting started.

Weekend of October 19th “Thinning Of The Herd” will most likely not show much movement...and if it does...it will be a shocking ala Scar over UGA.

Guaranteed Thinning Will Take Place
None

"Upset Alert”
Baylor at Oklahoma State...Baylor is not good enough to remain on upset alert, especially since they are going into the land of the mullet.

Michigan at Penn State...I don't think much of Jim Harbaugh, but the Nittany Lions better bring their A game in the white out.

Will Keep Winning....For Now
Clemson at Louisville...The Cardinals are playing much better football right now, but it will take a sleep walking team from Clemson to lose in the bluegrass state this week

West Virginia at Oklahoma...maybe one could argue this will be a letdown game for the Sooners, but I am not going to bite.

Ohio State at Northwestern...Friday night football for the Buckeyes after a bye week. Northwestern is not much better than some of those great Texas high school teams we saw on Friday Night Lights.

Minnesota at Rutgers...The boat will keep rowing.

Wisconsin at Illinois...The Badgers need not worry this week.

Tennessee at Alabama...this game used to mean more. Now, the Vols are just another bad team.

LSU at Mississippi State...only this being a let down game for the Tigers would make me worry that the cow bells could win.
