Offensive MVP 2013

Jul 2, 2013, 1:00 PM

Congrats to Vic Beasley, who won the Defensive MVP 2013 poll yesterday! We're all expecting great things from him and Brent Venables' second year.

Onto offense. Now Clemson's offense, as opposed to the D, has some standouts who will win all the awards. Therefore, this poll is for Offensive MVP, MINUS Sammy and Tajh. Because let's face it: it wouldn't be much of a poll if they were choices.

So, pick who you think will be our #3 guy this year. I'll include the max of 10 options, but feel free to write in your own, and please, discuss away. Go Tigers!!!

Minus Sammy and Tajh, who will be Offensive MVP 2013?    [Results]

Roderick "Hot Rod" McDowell
DJ Howard
Martavis Bryant
Charone Peake
Adam Humphries
Germone Hopper
Stanton Seckinger
Jordan Leggett
Jay Jay McCullough

I know the spring game doesn't mean much, but if Bryant looks even half as beastly as he did in that game --- and puts his mind where his talent is --- we'll be talking in 8 months about whether Clemson will have two WRs drafted in the early rounds.

Is he reay a Junior... I hope he does well and I know he has had some studs in front of him, but man it seems like he hasnt done much.

Just understandably been in the backseat

Jul 2, 2013, 3:17 PM

Since the Nuk and Sammy duo is now just Sammy, look for his numbers to explode.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You would hope....

Jul 2, 2013, 3:23 PM

The offense needs to show it can run the ball when needed and that one of the other WR's can step up to become a consistent threat.

Even then, most opposing DC's are going to use bracket coverage on Sammy and take their chances one on one with the other receivers until Clemson gives them a reason not to.

Of course, that's only a concern for three or four games as the rest of the competition isn't worth the effort of discussion.

Just a whim... Jordan Legget

Jul 2, 2013, 3:31 PM

I'm going with Jordan Legget on this one. He had a strong showing in the spring game and Chad Morris loves a tightend with soft hands. He is a big kid who's been turning some heads with his effort. Look for Sammy to get plenty of attention from every secondary we face. I think this will leave other options such as Leggett and Humphries wide open. After the first few games, teams will have noticed Bryant and Peake. Just a whim but I feel Jordan will have a great freshmen year.

Absolutely. He's crazy good, and if I may be so bold: dark horse John Mackey watchlist!

Also, welcome to TigerNet! :) Here's your first TU!
