Two Things On My Mind About Goodwin and DJ

Goodwin - most of us may never know all the facts but, IMO, Goodwin was updating BV real time during the game from the press box. Would it make sense for Goodwin to be the DC and make the calls from the press box where he can see the whole field. Many DCs work from the press box. He definitely knows how to adjust at half time why not in the 1st QTR?
DJ - if you've never had a bad day at work or in life, you're not human. Fortunately, the Tigers have the talent and depth to make up for it. DJ will back.

Goodwin obviously doesn’t have the sideline presence of BV. I’m not saying that as a knock on him but his own personal strengths may make him better suited for the box.

I agree and my own sense is that Nick Eason probably needs to be at least co-DC. (Yeah, I know right now it's Conn.)
The problem is Conn is another cerebral guy like Wes Goodwin, and they sort of take up the same role in the room. What seems missing is that minute-to-minute, in-your-face intensity Venables always brought.
I can definitely see Eason providing that. He's a natural Alpha, he's got that energy and enthusiasm and intensity and huge personality.
I'd personally move Goodwin back to the box and let Eason boss the guys on the field. It seems to better suit their personalities. Adjust titles and salaries however to salve egos, but get the right combination of guys in the right roles, IMHO.
I'm less sold DJU will be "back". I'm genuinely concerned his confidence may be blown again. That gets harder and harder to come back from.

Or do you think DJ was a legit threat to make more mistakes than #2 would, as Dabo evidently did?
Richt apparently sees the same danger, though he says he thinks it was the right call.

I think you misunderstood his post. I don't read him to be critiquing the decision to pull DJ. I read him as saying that DJ is kind of like a thoroughbred that gets spooked and doesn't come back from it. Last year, it was obvious the UGA game got into his head. He's wondering if this game will do the same.

That was a heck of a performance by our D yesterday. We held their offense to 14 points and completely shut them down in the 2nd half, along with neutralizing All-ACC Sean Tucker as well as you can.
Like our Offense, the D seems to stick with a scripted set of calls and alignments early to ferret out the opponents' strengths and weaknesses then dial it in accordingly from there. I don't know what more we could have asked for on that side yesterday. That 2nd half was out of this world - punt punt punt punt punt punt pick. I almost feel bad for 'em.

One year ago today (10/23/21) DJ got pulled at Pittsburgh during the loss there. He came back the next week against FSU and the current longest win streak in College football was started. The Tigers have gone 14 - 0 with DJ starting since that day, with some help from his teammates.
If he comes back in 2 weeks against ND and reels off another 6 game win streak, the Tigers will be playing for the Natty. I'm just saying, don't count DJ out.
