Turnovers didn't cost us SCAR game

Jan 3, 2014, 11:56 AM

A coot friend told me that turnovers wasn't the reason we lost to SCAR as they we already up 34-17 after only 2 tos. That's BS right? Someone please tell me when the turnovers happened in relation to the SCAR points. Personally I think the better team lost soley due to turnovers (as was the case in the Sugar Bowl). Go Tigers beat the Buckeyes - lets start out 2014 right!

turnovers, yes, but with a catch:

TO's ultimately the responsibility of coaches who tightened up when it mattered, couldn't or wouldn't adjust to the game as it unfolded, tried trickeration with bad timing, caused their players to tighten up, and got taken to school by the OBC as he patiently went with the flow of the game.

No

We were down seven returning a punt in the 4th w 3 turnovers already. We fumbled the punt they went up 31-17 then I left and I think tajh actually threw two picks after being down 14 w 3-4 minutes left.

Don't think that is correct as the muffed punt was your 4th to and our score after that made it 31-17 and Boyd threw 2 ints following that.

1st to was in end zone and we drove 80 yards in about 17 plays for a td so defense had ample opportunity to stop offense after 1st to but didn't. That was not a red zone turnover.

Does it really matter? Don't good teams take care of the ball, isn't that part of being the better team, protecting the football?

That is sort of like saying if Boyd played better you would have won. Isn't the better team the one that gets their players to play better?

Good luck tonight and safe trip back for all those traveling.

1st turnover was Sammy (?) throwing an interception.

No excuse for that play being called. The 2nd was when they SC defense took the ball away from Tajh. Shouldn't have happened. The last two were late 4th quarter interceptions.

I agree that turnovers did not lose the game for us. Our offensive play calling was no different than when we played Syracuse. Not good. We should have been throwing short passes in the flat, slant routes, wheel routes... anything to get the ball out of Tajh's hands quickly and down field. We should have practiced them until it was second nature and our players executed from muscle memory. Combined with our run game, we would have kept the chickens on their heels. We had 2 weeks to prepare, with some practice time against the Citadel thrown in.

He was right...I have always said you guys beat yourselves....by double digits....and you do it decisively. You guys kill yourselves year after year. You would think after the 1st year of beating yourselves you would stop....but no....there is no stop in it....you always come back and beat yourselves some more. Dabo said it...so it must be true. I believe it, don't you ?????

I would say a team that commits 6 turnovers...

has no right to call themselves "better".

It just sounds petty.

There is no way around saying SCAR was the better team that night. And that night was when it mattered.
