Tua is the best college QB that I've ever seen.

Sep 15, 2018, 8:01 PM

Now, that could change when he plays some better defenses down the stretch.

But this guy is unbelievable.

D Watson is at a different level. I agree.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's obviously too early to truly tell, but as a college QB

Sep 15, 2018, 8:11 PM [ in reply to Better than Watson?!?*** ]

at this point, he looks like a junior DW4.

Watson had some major struggles in the "lesser games" that we choose not to remember. But when you needed him in the 4th quarter, he was amazing.

Tua brought them back in the Natty and showed that he has that same calming quality. Like I said, too early to really tell, but he is special.

Re: It's obviously too early to truly tell, but as a college QB

Sep 15, 2018, 8:16 PM

I don't think you are factoring in the team he is playing behind. They can't get any pressure on him. He is not close to Watson at any point. Ole Miss is getting no pressure.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In a clutch situation, give me DW4.

Sep 15, 2018, 8:20 PM

But my overall point is that Bama found an incredible QB.

That's very scary. Fortunately, their defense is not what it has been.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: In a clutch situation, give me DW4.

Sep 15, 2018, 8:26 PM

His offensive line is a complete mismatch vs Ole Miss Dline too. His r's are great too. He also has great WR's. There are a lot of QB's through history that would look as good as he does in this situation. Tua is really good. Best ever? Nah.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh I think hes very close to Watson and I have a feeling he will

Sep 15, 2018, 8:27 PM [ in reply to Re: It's obviously too early to truly tell, but as a college QB ]

be outstanding when he plays LSU, Auburn, etc as well.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hes more accurate than Watson and seems to have similar

Sep 15, 2018, 8:23 PM [ in reply to Better than Watson?!?*** ]

elusiveness and wheels on a thicker frame. We will see if he has the other things that made Watson great but I think he actually has better arm talent.

Re: Tua is the best college QB that I've ever seen.

Sep 15, 2018, 8:09 PM

Michael Vick and Charlie Ward were both way better.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Disagree - Neither Ward nor Vick could pass in the same

Sep 15, 2018, 8:15 PM

neighborhood as Tua ... and I saw them all in person and on TV. Call me loyal, but I will take DW4 in pressure games and situations.

But Bama coaches have balls - they play their best QB and coach him up to take advantage of any and all weaknesses in the Defense on any given play.

Re: Disagree - Neither Ward nor Vick could pass in the same

Sep 15, 2018, 8:18 PM

Both could pass way better actually. Vick lead the nation is pass efficiency one year. He was just was blazing fast too. Ward was an amazing passer as well. Both had much stronger arms too. I agree that Watson was better than Tua as well.

Regardless of where the stats end up Tua is a better passer than Vick

Sep 15, 2018, 8:32 PM

Vick was insanely good but a lot of that was due to his legs. He did have a cannon for an arm but he was pretty raw as a thrower.

I mean Vince Young was probably a really efficient passer in college too.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Vick had a strong arm ... but see below facts

Sep 15, 2018, 8:47 PM [ in reply to Re: Disagree - Neither Ward nor Vick could pass in the same ]

Vick
Career Virginia Tech (Two Seasons 1999/2000)
Completions / Attempts / Percentage / Yards / Avg Yds Attempt / TD's / Int / YPC / Rating
192 / 343 / 56.0 / 3299 / 9.4 / 21 / 11 / 5.5 / 150

Tua Bama (4 games)
Completions / Attempts / Percentage / Yards / Avg Yds Attempt / TD's / Int / YPC / Rating
74 / 113 / 65.5% / 1091 / 9.6 / 8 / 0 / 6.4 / 233

Incomplete body of work for Tua but compares favorably to Vick and much more accurate with passing.

Charlie Ward was one of the best. Joe Montana was great. But we had two captains on the field today that could hold their own

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He reminds me of a younger Trevor Lawrence***

Didn’t Ole Miss give up 38 points in the 1st half last week against Southern Illinois?

Clemson fans who suck up on Bama are the absolute worst.

Re: Tua is the best college QB that I've ever seen.

Sep 15, 2018, 8:50 PM

Keep in mind that tua cut his teeth last year. He played a lot of games. Plus he was groomed all spring and summer as the starter. So when you compare him, compare what he does this season to what DW4 did his sophomore year.

Also, as others have stated he has 10 studs around him. DW4 had maybe 5 or 6 around him at any given time.

I know tua has to execute but a lot of it could be the coordinator getting ready for the week too. I see it as DW4 ran the offense and prepared himself. Just saying.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg2016_pickem_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My statement was some hyperbole

Sep 15, 2018, 8:57 PM

And didn't intend for a Watson Tua debate as I think Watson was incredible and has more upside as a pro.

I just think Tua looks like an incredible college QB.

But yes it's early and he's got great talent around him

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You’ll get in too deep of water saying that but I agree he’s the best
