You see Trump everywhere. Long day at work, you come on here, can't wait to make a Trump post. Doesn't matter what the topic is, you're going to work it in. It's the craziest thing, and you don't even see it. It's so unhealthy. You are convinced that I think it's weird because your mind says I must support him rather than recognize you're off the rails on this topic.

power. He's about as evil as people who park in handicapped spots on purpose. I just happen to think that letting military members and Afghani partners get killed due to a PR-driven botched pullout or letting embassy workers in Libya get killed or making your grown daughter shower with you is a lot more "evil" than anything you've described.
People like you just have zero faith in the Constitution if you think a single guy like that can overcome almost 250 years of that glorious document our founders gave us. The freaking system already worked in preventing anything he tried on Jan 6th....it flat out worked....and you guys are acting like he has some super duper part 2 plan that's REALLY going to overthrow things this time. I got no clue why anyone is supporting him now and I pray he doesn't get the Pub nomination, but my belief that he can take down our system as we know it, even if he wanted to, is so low it's unbelievable, and that's because I believe in the system and our founders, not because I believe in him.

defeat thought he'd found a loophole in the system that could see an alternate way to see him selected the victor despite losing.
a) his ignorant attempt got shut down. Badly. I mean, it never stood a chance. The Other two branches would have never gone along with it, and seemingly he was one of the only members of his own branch who was behind it. The military certainly wouldn't have helped. Cheese and rice, NO ONE would have gone along with it, not even his own VP, it was such a far-fetched hail mary.
b) As a practitioner of law as a profession, don't you think it's odd that someone who you say had complete and total disdain for the law and the system, would even GAS about the system enough to look for a loophole to try and USE THE LAWS OF THE SYSTEM to stay in power? He's guilty of getting and believing horrible advice and strategy from a craptastic legal team. The BIGGEST EVIL THREAT TO OUR DEMOCRACY would give a flying F about the system and would have just rounded up enough military leaders and members to try and overthrow the govt....that's not what happened here.
If I have total disregard for the IRS and think I'm above the tax system, I just don't pay them. If I'm looking for every loophole I can to minimize my tax burden, but still paying them, on some level I'm respecting the IRS.
c) Saying for a minute that our "democracy was threatened" that day is just a bunch of emotional overdramatic hand-wringing pap. It stood up to Trump and it will stand up to any other charlatan who thinks they can beat the system as well. It's not perfect, but it's always better than any one man with less than pure intentions. You don't understand the beauty and power of our system of govt if you think otherwise.

He used to be a fervent Trumpie and completely flipped. He may be a little more inclined to attack, whether he feels like a jilted lover or despises the trappings he fell into. I don't agree with his OP attacking Trump supporters as we've seen ALMOST all of them (hi, Charleston Tom) side with Israel on this. I don't think Trump has anything to do with this atrocity (despite him already making it about himself) and I don't know think it's fair to slam Trumpies over anything with this (just as there's no Biden connection, either).
I think I see why Alex is more anti-Trump that most because he used to be in that cult.
What I will say is this: If Trump did come out and make horrific statements about the Israeli victims the way he did about our service men and women, we'd see the likes of Keowee, RTD, Crash, Tom, Miura, that champions81 idiot, Rangers--people who are void of a moral compass--falling all over themselves to defend him.

who managed to fight with, steer off, or otherwise impede for long enough numerous advances of hundreds backed by hundreds into and through the building, chambers and offices of a full session of Congress. I mean, every swinging federal J outside of POTUS and SCOTUS were there. Minutes in difference of someone, anyone, staff or official, getting accessed and caught. At that point, and you know how we are with hostage situations, it's game over. Sure, Pence could have flipped earlier and prevented it - the only other single human obstacle in the equation that day that was part of the constitutional system. Once that failed, though, we all lived the rest of the story. One. Single. Hostage. Game over.
I agree that Donald Trump is not evil. He doesn't have the capacity to be that. He's only, ever and always, in it for himself. That's it. You have to have the capability to give at least some ounce of #### for another human being to be 'evil' IMO, otherwise it's just psychosis - not sinister. This is pretty much where he fits. He craves those very same people lauding and applauding him, though, and will never take no for an answer no matter what he has to gin up or light on fire to get it.
Trump won't bring the system down. He's all bluster and blunder, and a genuine kitty at heart. It's the 1/4 of the country that dotes on and echoes his madness / stable brilliance, the bona fide shape shifters that he continues to plough into chaos creation and peril, impassioned with his fear and loathing, along with what is now a majority of a GOP that is willing to go along to get along.
