Today, July 4th, is a stark & great reminder that..

Our U.S. CONSTITUTION is Absolute and isn't fluid as some want it to be.

Go AMERICA & CLEMSON TiGERS..ROCK!

It's very fluid:

27 amendments have been passed. The first in 1789. The most recent in 1992.

Well technically _ non-fluid after the 18th but fluid again after the 21st.

The “moral imposing” minority has always been problematic.

I get it after looking up the 18th and 21st.

True story: this guy's generation was once the Peace & Love flower-power movement.

Go figure. The Boomers really have no sense of the word "irony", whatever.

Interested in what you meant by that, but I'll agree that

It's the Declaration that is absolute and not fluid. If we separate the Constitution from the Declaration, and interpret it independent of the Declaration, we're goners. And I think that is happening.

Now both of you explain.***

drunk at the putt putt.

TL;DR version:

Jul 4, 2022, 6:51 PM

The Declaration, in its paraphrase of Thomas Locke, states a specific philosophy of truth/the individual/society that justified the secession and would form the new nation. The Constitution was the system devised to protect that foundational philosophy. We can lose sight of that, and interpret the Constitution from whatever philosophy we want, but it won't be what the founders intended.

You're thinking of the articles of confederation.***
