The best rendition of the National Anthem I’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing in person. It’s not an easy song to preform, and it irritates me when singers try to impress the crowd with their vocal abilities to the point the Anthem becomes unrecognizable.
This young man did a very emotional rendition, yet he stayed true to the song. The crowd around me stood in silence and he had our undivided attention. I did notice an elderly veteran standing close by standing at full attention as a tear slowly shed down his face. It was a pleasure to be there to hear this young man sing.
Great job Blackmon Huckabee Jr., you made this a very special Military Appreciation Day!

The first verse of the SSB ends with a question: Is the flag still there?
(“…or did we win or lose this battle?”)
Other verses expand on the idea, but the last verse explains the origins of the USA and what is needed for continued success.
FYI:
“O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation,
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land,
Praise the Power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

It was there thru the night, but they did not know if it remained til the morning or was taken down by victorious British.
That’s why it is a question … and the sentence ends with a question mark:
“…Gave proof through the night that our Flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled Banner yet wave,
O'er the Land of the free and the home of the brave?”

I'm sure just being on the Clemson football team has been all he ever dreamed in football. He clearly has a God-given musical gift and I hope his dreams in music come true as well. I'm sure singing in Death Valley checked off one of the dreams on his list!!
Great job, Blackmon! I hope to see you on more big music stages in the future and I know you'll wear your Tiger colors proudly!!
