Absolutely, anytime one team has one run more over the other team it's a win, and our Tigers finishes the game with a run more than what VT had at the end of the 9th inning. Go Tigers, all of Tiger nation should be very proud of the way you guys have played in the second half of the season after a poor start in the first half of the season.

Coach Bakish has surly earned his salary, and as of now, I think that he has also earned himself a pay raise, that's my opinion anyway. Go Tigers, here's to hoping you stay hot and play your best ball through the regionals and the college world series and bring a NC back to Tiger town one game at a time!!!!

I've never seen a game end that way and probably won't again.

I didn’t watch the game but I am so happy for this team!

Obviously, great coaching is in our favor.

They managed to hang on by their fingernails. Don't see the game, but looking at the box score, Clayton only gave up one hit in three innings, so was he tiring before being relieved?

The game ended by Clemson being up 9-4 in the bot 9th, VT hit a 2-run Hr, followed by a solo HR to make it 9-7, then a few men got on base. Then they got a base hit to make it 9-8 CU with bases loaded, 1 out. VT hit a ground ball up the middle, Blackwell was in a awkward position to take the double play ball. So Bertram (the leader he is ) took the ground ball turned it got blasted by the baserunner, he was late on the throw to first. However because the baserunner made contract with Bertram he was out and so is the batter by rule. So instead of a tie game both runners are out making it 3 outs. Clemson wins. Dumbest rule ever but hey ill take a 6th ACC series wins in a row!! Insane ending dumbest rule ever but Tigers win so HA! We had this rule called on us a few years back hated it then, ah I love it now!! Go Tigers!! We are getting hot fellas!! UNC LOOK OUT!!

The “contact” had NOTHING to do with the call!

Runner was out by rule when he didn’t slide into 2nd base. NCAA rule DOES NOT require contact to be interference.

HTH

Here's the exact rule from the NCAA rulebook

Force-Play-Slide Rule

SECTION 4. The intent of the force-play-slide rule is to ensure the safety of all players. This is a safety and an interference rule. Whether the defense could have completed the double play has no bearing on the applicability of this rule. This rule pertains to a force-play situation at any base, regardless of the number of outs, except it does not apply to the batter-runner at first base.

a. On any force play, the runner, in the vicinity of the base, must slide on the ground before the base and in a direct line between the two bases. It is permissible for the slider’s momentum to carry them through the base in the baseline extended.

GO TIGERS!

Seems as though their coach may need to review the rule book. I'd imagine he may get that play mentioned to him again by his AD, as well as by the University President. Hope we stomp their back-sides today.

GO TIGERS!!!!!

It is a player safety rule. I’ve had that happen to me playing shortstop. I knew immediately that the batter was out (last night) and started celebrating the win. If the runner slides (as the rule states), it is a tie game. If that rule wasn’t there, players would be taking out the fielder every chance they got. Even though the base runner didn’t affect the throw, he did not try to avoid contact. It’s a very integral rule to baseball.

Glad the bats came back alive in the top of the ninth and added those extra insurance runs.
