I think this will be another feather in the 3-star or below to the NFL from Clemson hat: K'von Wallace, Etienne(rivals), Simmons, Tankersley, Renfrow, Grady Jarrett(2*), Muse, Nolan Turner, Adam Humphries, Anchrum, etc.
Tyler Shatley came to Clemson as a DT; switched to OL and is still on a CFA roster. 3-star.
Looking at the schools interested in this school; I think clearly he is under-starred.

For also-ran programs, they take 3* and 2* that have less obvious development potential. Some of those become Jordan Addison and Zay Flowers type stars. More of them become contributors on teams that don’t win much.
I’m not going to call out any names for when unusual circumstances led to us recruiting and signing some 4* players late in the recruiting season that probably will be benchwarmers at best and roster occupants at worst. We signed those players because activities to evaluate not-as-immediately-ready prospects had stopped due to the recruiting class being full.
When our coaches have the time to conduct evaluations of not-immediately-ready-to-play prospects that have longer term upside, Clemson’s recruiting strategy really shines.

With the way offenses are evolving, I love the body type mix

we are putting together in the secondary for what has become basically a 5 position group with 2 corners, 2 safeties and a 3rd safety/corner at the nickel being the primary defense. Our numbers are down at linebacker, but our speed is up there and our safety numbers are up.

Your guess is probably as good as anybody else, but 10-A-C has already snagged one high profile guy that we were after in OL Satterwhite and maybe WR Mike Matthews. So, their bad news doesn't seem to be hurting them to much....
