I had the pleasure to go to Clemson with Lawson and later on played golf with him at Myrtle Beach back when he was recruiting for Danny Ford. I don’t remember how the golf game went, but it was 18 holes of great recruiting stories.

One of the best ones was when he was recruit a lineman and the lineman said that if he had a watch like his that he would sign with the Tigers. Lawson said the watch immediately came off and he expected him to sign only to find out that he later signed with UNC. After Ford got fired, Lawson spent time with the old ball coach at Washington and eventually made his way back to . . . You guessed it coaching at UNC, Lawson said the first thing he did was to get his watch back!

Lawson was a great guy. Prayers go out to the family.

I also knew Lawson at Clemson and I agree, he was a great guy. Really hate to hear of his passing.

Lawson was a team mate at Clemson. I was older, but only a year or 2. He was a guy who was liked by everybody. I know he will be missed. God bless his family.
