NIL cash comes from sponsors that want to use a players NIL don't it. Unless a sponsor wants to use a womans NIL in that way, like with tampons, I don't see where they have a case.

The collectives are the schools money raised, they they can delve out how they want. Has nothing to do with NIL in the real sense

But it's not "money the school raised". That's explicitly against the rules.

The amount issued out of the NIL collective should be directly proportional to the amount of revenue your sport generates for the university

No...it should be directly related to the use of the name, image, and likeness of the athlete receiving the funds.

Exactly. NIL has zero to do with equality. Those female athletes need to run a valuation of their scholarships against their true market value for their name, image and likeness and see just how overpaid they already are by the university. Nobody on a football team is entitled to any star player’s deal either. That was the whole basis for the Supreme Court ever opening up this can of worms in the first place. Title IX only has to do with scholarships for all genders. You think that hot little blonde gymnast at LSU should share her NIL money with 3rd string football players? Of course not.

This is dumb why should they be treated equally when they don’t bring in the same amount of revenue?? So we are going to punish the players who bring in the money to serve the ones who actually cost the school millions??

Agree, most of the money that allows universities to sponsor a lot of programs comes from the FB revenue, right. They should count themselves lucky that their university can sponsor their girly girl sport...

The greed from college athletes and these lawsuits are going to destroy the product to the point schools will be forced to cancel men’s and women’s sports because of title IX.
It reminds me of how the auto workers were so focused on their union and money that they started building POS vehicles. Ford, GM and Chrysler allowed Japan to take over the American car market.
It was quoted once that if we do not learn from and remember history we are bound to repeat it.
This is what is happening to college athletics. It’s going to implode on itself. Some athletes are getting their money before the big crash. What’s pathetic is these are scholarship athletes. And enabled kids like Deion Sanders son does not even need the money.
Pretty soon non student athletes are going to recognize their value to colleges and Universities and demand there cut. So many kids are receiving worthless degrees and end up owing thousands of dollars in college tuition debt.

Whether you agree or not on the merits, this type of litigation is what needs to happen to help get NIL fixed. The NCAA will be forced to act. Bring on a few more lawsuits.

The sooner college FB adopts the NFL model and quit calling NFL lite FB teams, a team of student athletes, the better. It's inevitable, so why the delay?

The case should be thrown out. NIL , if done correctly, should be based on value added by the athlete.

I'm sure they do.
Good luck with that considering collectives and donor-backed groups facilitate NIL opportunities, not the schools. The collectives and donor-backed groups don't you the time of day let along ANY NIL money.

Why is the university being sued?

I thought NIL was separate from the universities. In fact, aren't the universities barred from even knowing how much money is given via NIL?

NIL- university collusion varies by state…as state law varies…
NIL isn’t based on merit now…in theory it should…but it it isn’t ….
These collectives throwing money at unproven HS talent are not merit or economics based…

After their ruling, SCOTUS left open the possibility of the NCAA coming back with plan on how to execute NIL. So far, they have not.

Some of the highest paid college athletes are women.
According to On3, Reese's NIL valuation is now valued at $1.3 million, which ranks her third among the highest-paid women in college sports. She currently has over 17 NIL deals inked, ranking her fifth among all college athletes.Apr 12, 2023O la
Iowa's Caitlin Clark becomes first college athlete to ink NIL deal with State Farm
https://iconsource.com/blog/highest-paid-college-athletes/
There are several female college athletes that make $1 million plus through NIL.
NIL is a huge monster that cannot be stopped or even controlled. Greed has reared it ugly head through 18-23 year old college athletes.
Highest paid football players.
1. Shedeur Sanders - $4.5M 2. Arch Manning - $2.8M 3. Caleb Williams - $2.6M 4. Travis Hunter - $2.1M 5. Drake Maye - $1.5M 6. Evan Stewart - $1.4M 7. Marvin Harrison Jr. - $1.3M 8. Michael Penix Jr. - $1.2M 9. Sam Hartman - $1.2M 10. Bo Nix - $1.1M

Agreed. I’ve seen several people say it’s a product of the youth today being greedy. I’m sure if you were to go back 10, 20, 30, 40, etc… years ago and give players of those times the option to play for free aside from a scholarship or to receive a scholarship and also get paid a million dollars that they wouldn’t have turned it down.
Also, isn’t it actually older generations that are the ones handing out all this money so their sports teams can have a better chance of winning? Why not put the blame of those generations?

Unless they can tie the NIL collective to the university, this is going nowhere.
I mean, we know it's a slush fund with a bag man, but try proving it.
