dire predictions on what would happen if man actually WERE able to go back and tamper with history. Just for supposition's sake, on a personal level, and on a macro level, if you COULD go back, and just observe, but not CHANGE history, where would you go?
For me personally, one place I would surely go is back to June 1977, so that I could get the answer to why my parents house burned down. My whole life's worth of memories went up in smoke in that fire, with no real cause ever being nailed down.
On a macro level, I, like I suspect a lot of others, would go back to 11/22/63, just to prove to myself that Lee Harvey Oswald was in fact part of a much larger conspiracy than just one man who killed President John F. Kennedy. Stephen King's book 11/22/63 is a cautionary tale about trying to CHANGE history. In it, he says over and over again, history is "obdurate", it does not WANT to be changed. But, I suspect it would not mind so much just being observed.

Macro - I'm a huge history buff, especially WW2 and the Pacific. I'd love to be on a carrier after the Battle of Midway when they started to believe, with certainty, that we could win this thing after sinking 5 Japanese carriers. The mood on those ships must have been incredible - the victory mixed with the loss of our own. If not that, then being in the early colonies when the British retreated and we knew we'd won our independence. Again, the victory mixed with loss, but with so much hope and promise in front of us.
Personal - almost anytime in my son's infancy/toddler-hood. I had an awful marriage to his mom (we're now divorced) and I was working up to 60 hours a week, so I missed a lot of milestones. Even when I was home, I was just really tired. I have zero recollection of much of his young life and would like to be able to see his first steps and just those great little moments that are so fleeting. The one thing I remember very clearly, however, is when he was born - the doctor let me help deliver him. She delivered the head and made sure everything was going safely and properly, and I delivered him the rest of the way. I'll never forget that moment. Most amazing thing I've ever seen or been involved with. Very thankful for that.

I agree with the Kennedy assassination. Ever since I was old enough to read about it something just seemed off and irked the heck out of me. Not to mention there are some credible theories out there, too many in fact. Kennedy had his hands in a lot of pockets and made a lot of enemies.

knowledge that it was happening in Dallas that day. A conspiracy theory presentation came through Clemson while I was a student there, around 1973-4 timeframe. One of their "Exhibit A's" was a still photo that was taken from a side front to back view of the motorcade, at the time when Kennedy was just starting to move in reaction to the FIRST shot hitting him in the back. NOBODY in his limousine had begun to react. In Johnson's limo, there was not a head visible, except for the driver, they had already all "hit the deck". It could just be an amazing coincidence though, I suppose.

Read an account years ago stating LBJ changed the route of the motorcade a few days prior that was originally not through Dealey Plaza. Never had any confidence the Warren Commission performed a thorough investigation. History Channel several years ago had an interesting documentary titled The Men Who Killed Kennedy. Need to see if it's on Utube to watch again.

It's well documented the Warren commission rushed their job. A bunch of people on it have came out and said they still had leads and interviews to follow up on, but they were quickly shut down. Some of those people probably got a little too close.

I would want to travel back to the late 70’s early 80’s to my great grandmother’s house on a Sunday. Our entire family used to gather every Sunday and we spent all day together eating, talking, playing, and watching Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom and Jacque Custeau’s (spl.?) Undersea Adventures (not sure of name.) I never realized how special this was until my beloved MeMaw passed away in 1987. I’d give anything for one more Sunday with all of those wonderful people. Since MeMaw passed, we only see one another on holidays and deaths.

Great post… but had to be Eve’s daughters.
Genesis 20:12 Abraham married a half sister. May have not been ill advised with so few humans.
Read where genetically this could occur for so many (not sure on the number) generations before it would cause birth defects!
Just things I’ve pondered over the years. Interesting thought though!

For one, the earth is moving, the solar system is moving, the Milky Way is moving, and the Universe is expanding. If you could reverse Time as a variable only, you would end up lost in space.
Now you can theoretically go forward. Jump on a rocket ship, travel near the speed of light, return to earth, everyone has aged but you have not as much. Therefore, you've "traveled into the future", but really time slowed for you compared to everyone else. It's all relative.

On a personal level I would go back to one night in Clemson in the winter/spring of 1979. That particular night (and I don’t know what night it was) an unknown coed and I conceived a child. I learned of the existence of said child only a year ago. Even if I could I wouldn’t stop what happened but I would like to know more about her. Like what her name was.

My daughter sent a DNA sample to Ancestry.com (I wouldn’t ever put my blueprint into a database) and got a match with him. We have met and been together a few times. His mother put him up for adoption at birth and I never knew. His adoptive parents gave him a great life and upbringing. He’s a great guy, but it’s more like finding a lost brother than a son because, obviously, I never knew him as a child. The fact that he’s had a good life and the fact that my wife of 42 years is okay with it has made what could have been a bad situation into a wonderful situation.

Going back in a purely spectator fashion would be interesting, there's dozens of historical moments I'd like to witness.
As for interacting in the past when travelling there, I read an interesting paper published last year about time travel being self-correcting.
You decide that you are going to go back in time to eliminate Hitler as a baby so that everything he did never happened. If you succeed, you'll return to a modern day that doesn't know about Hitler, therefor you wouldn't feel the need to go back and eliminate him, so you don't and history played out exactly the way it was before your journey.
Fascinating subject, that's why it's been the subject of so much in the entertainment industry, the whole "what if" scenarios.

Stephen King's 11/22/63. The Hulu TV mini-series adapted from the book was very good.
I would like to be at the Pool of Bethesda witnessing the miraculous healing of the crippled man. Just hearing the question from my Savior, "Do you want to be healed?" would lead me to truly comprehend and understand the depth, power and desire of His question. It definitely does now, but to hear it spoken ... WOW!
I would also like to hear Paul's sermon at the Areopagus. Please it would be good to meet him as well.

What book are they in? It’s rather obvious that they lived. Remains have been found.
Have you ever read the story about this cavern in France that was discovered by a group of teenagers years and years ago? It has been permanently closed by the government because it has certain evidence that destroys the thinking of many! Fascinating.

If you are a reader I suggest you read the works of Archibald Rutledge who lived at Hampton Plantation near Georgetown. He was Poet Laureate of SC and grew up during plantation days. Great true story teller that you will really like.!
