I questioned why he didn't call timeout on first down but Louisville didn't try to run the clock down. If Louisville had scored then we had no time to get into field goal range.

There should have been a TO after both 1st and 2nd downs to save us some time if Louisville did score. Time wasn’t a factor for Louisville at that point. I don’t know what the point of the TO after 2nd down was if they weren’t using the other one.

Well said Tigerfan555. I didn’t understand what the coaches were doing during the game. I’ll go listen to Dabo’s explanation, haven’t yet.

My thought last night during the game was if you save the 2 TOS for 2nd & 3rd down okay - I can see the logic there. It worked out, and I was grateful for that. But the whole thing felt very Belichick / Malcolm Butler - where because the player(s) made a great play, the coach’s clock mgt decisions become irrelevant footnotes.
