Tickets for the Bama/Georgia game

Jan 10, 2022, 12:59 PM

The ticket prices for the CFP game tonight look low to me. The last time they played in Atlanta, the low priced tickets on the Georgia side was selling for $1600. These tickets are selling for $475. Been 1980 since their last title....might not want to see the "win" in person? Go Tigers

I think the game location is the driving force behind ticket prices. There were attractions outside of the game itself at all other championship game sites.

And it’s freezing cold there.

Maybe Covid doesn't make it worth it for some and they will just watch on TV and nit travel all the way to an average city like Indy. It wouldn't be a factor for me though. If Clemson were playing for the National Title, you would have to pay for my airline tickets for me and 3 friends, 4 hotels rooms, a limo, and 2k spending cash. Otherwise I would far prefer to watch from home.

I would love to go next year though. That would be awesome to go and watch Clemson play at that awesome new SoFi Stadium in Southern California. Those tickets will probably be outrageous though.

People are wising up. I've been to most of our post-season games. And even as far back as 5 years ago it was a special event that catered to the attendees. In the 2015 Orange Bowl against Ohio State it felt like a carnival outside the stadium with events and things to do. Now, even the halftime shows are remote and catered for the at-home viewing audience.

It's expensive to travel during the best of times. Now it's not just expensive, but a PITA as well with Covid. There will obviously be a full house for the game tonight, but there aren't 100,000 additional fans in Indy hoping to find a ticket and driving up prices.

It's a combination of television production decisions that cater to TV viewers, Covid and inflation / economy. I think a lot of fans are keeping those thousands in their pockets and spending $100 at Kroger before settling in on their couch for the game.
