Thoughts on last nights loss (my vent)

Oct 20, 2013, 2:01 PM

First off, didn't see that coming just like anyone else on here.

Secondly, our O-line is terrible on the right side. TERRIBLE! We are missing Giff being strong I think.

Third, when Tajh is off... well he is OFF! When he has no protection, he can't play is way out of a wet paper sack. With that said I am still behind him and think he is great guy and player. He is a great leader as well. His attitude and will to win have much to do with why this program is where it is today. BUT, when he is off and you know that he is going to be off. PULL HIM for a while when you have a very good Cole Stoudt standing there and has shown he can stand in the pocket and sling it.

FSU has a great secondary and pass coverage. Jameis lives up to the hype, and he is the real deal. I would have loved to seen some of the holding calls they missed in the first half thrown though and seen how he did with the pressure and hitting the floor. IMO, it would have been a game changer.

Take away the turnovers and the game is a different story. It's impossible to win against a quality team when you are chasing your tail. And, your defense stays on the field 75% of the game.

Lastly, I hope this is a wake up call and changes can be made. If not look for the end of November to look a lot like last night. That is the only game I see as a problem from here on out but I could also be as wrong about that as I was about last night.

With all of that off my chest...
GO TIGERS! Win out!

I agree with everything you said except it being a different game without turnover. What 3 turnovers by Clemson even if they give us 21 points back it is still a blowout

It was simply a blowout by a better team. Play that game 10 times and FSU wins all 10. They would not all be blowouts but the skill and toughness was indeed with the noles.

Now one can argue say taking the 4 USC losses and play those games 10 times and you probably see a 50-50 win percentage by pretty even teams. However, what I saw last night was a massacre and 1 team who finally got the talent together to make a champ run and 1 team with talent still trying to get there with o line and secondary issues yet to be worked out

My only reasoning behind that is the time you give them with the ball by the plays you are forced to call.

I truly think that Clemson stood a chance had they not been forced to go with the play calling they did getting in the hole so quickly. The defense staying on the field so long makes the FSU offense look even better. There could have been some better schemes used on the right side to buy Tajh some time also. What happened to that formation we used so much in 2011???

Hands down FSU was the best team on that field last night.

I am no analyst, just a realist, but a die hard Clemson fan. I do have orange glasses sometimes....haha
