Thoughts after rewatching the game

Sep 9, 2022, 9:45 PM

GT seemed to know our plays much of the time, especially called runs and standard pass plays; our O has no identity but is still predictable- not a good combo!

KJ Henry was an absolute beast

LBs fastest I’ve seen in a long time, maybe since Kirkland and Simmons

Defense missed too many tackles on GT QB

Not impressed with our secondary; GT had guys open all night but dropped several key passes

Several DJ passes were wobbly, even completed ones

Outside WRs getting no separation, but GT interfered multiple times that weren’t called

Our RBs run hard but little breakaway threat

Antonio Williams! More reps needed immediately

Something is wrong with EJ Williams, doesn’t look like the same player

Surprised Dacari Collins was so invisible; he was really coming on at the end of the year

Myles Murphy invisible too. Hurt?

Bottom lines:
Offense has more problems than just DJ. I don’t see Cade fixing them.

Defense has room for improvement. Too many broken tackles and open receivers. We would give up 24 plus to Bama or UGA right now.

ACC title possible with improvements but I don’t see a Natty without minor miracles

Good observation. I was not impressed by the play of our D's backfield. The line and linebackers did a great job but for whatever reason could not stop the QB in the backfield most times. The offense needs a lot of work to be good, not great.

It was Clemson's first game. Improvements are bound to happen or get the gutting crew and let them do what they do. Offense needs the most work because we don't seem to have any game breakers or game changers. Thus the fact that this unit has to definitely become more of a team more than ever.

Defense is and can be legit all season long.........if Goodwin isn't figured out by other opposing coaches. The more Goodwin can get creative and exotic with the players that he has on this defense......cover the young kids eyes please.

Spot on! This D has the potential to be all time great with a few makable improvements. Tackling problems plagued all the week 1 games, so I expect us to clean that up. If Goodwin and Conn can get the secondary problems fixed, the D alone could be enough to win the conference.

The O, however, just doesn’t appear have the firepower or scheme to be great, even with better QB, OL, and WR play.

It’s a little early

For Doomsday to set it. I’ll be very surprised if the Tigers don’t improve with each game. Clemson has good players and the coaches are ok too! Go Tigers. I support you. Leaving now for the loooong trip to Tigertown.

52 - 0.
