Aulë forged great towers on which to place the Lamps, one in the furthest north, Helcar, and another in the deepest south, Ringil. Varda filled them with light and Manwë hallowed them.[1]

In the center of Middle-earth, where the light of the Lamps mingled and the vegetation of Yavanna was richer, was the Great Lake and the island Almaren, where the Valar first dwelt.[1]

The lamps were destroyed by an assault by Melkor. Their fall was cataclysmic: The symmetry of Arda was destroyed as the weight of the lamps broke continents and their fire burned the land, such that the original design of the Valar, including Almaren, was undone forever. The Valar did what they could to hinder the damage as Melkor their Enemy and his hosts fled back to Utumno. As they didn't know when or where the Children of Eru would come into the world, they were afraid to rend the Earth again.[1]

At the site where Illuin fell, the inland sea of Helcar was formed, of which Cuiviénen was a bay. There was also the Sea of Ringil to the south, perhaps associated with the roots of Ormal.

Almaren was also destroyed, and after repairing some of the damage done by the resulting tumult, the Valar left Middle-earth for Valinor. There the Valar created the Two Trees, which were also a pair of gold and silver light, as the Two Lamps before them.[2]

Years later, In the center of Upstate, where the shadow of the Rock was cast, was the Great Lake and the mighty dikes, halting the power of the Great Lake into the area of the Hill and Rock. There was much rejoicing.[1]

The rejoicing was destroyed by a leader called Hootie. The fall was cataclysmic: The symmetry of the ACC was destroyed as the weight of the downtrodden souls of the Upstate was heavy. The Danny arose from the mire, assembled a mighty army with large warriors called linemen. An assault was led by the Danny, and the souls of the Upstate rejoiced, singing “3 yards and a cloud of dust”. Times were filled with promise. Then the Max assumed power, vanquishing the Danny and banishing him from the land of the Rock and Hill.[1]

At the site where The Danny fell, the fledgling army was reformed by the son of the famous Emperor Bowden, of whose exploits in the southern lands was legendary. The son showed promise, only to be outwitted during major battles. The souls of the Upstate again were downtrodden. In the shadows, a magician named Terry Don had assumed leadership of the council of the distributors of the tributes of the souls of the Upstate (CDTSU). Terry Don cast a wisdom spell and an aura of light fell upon one of the son’s footmen, the Dabo. The son was relieved of power, and the humble footman assumed rule of the army of the Upstate. And for the Dabo’s conquests, are they not recorded in the annals of the CFP wars?
The CDSTU was overcome by joy at their new found success. In memoriam and tribute, it was decided to erect a lasting monument contralateral on the battlefield to the Hill and Rock, and the Oculus was born.
