This makes sense.

Jun 5, 2014, 9:32 AM

I heard a report from Chuck Todd this am that he had spoken with someone in the administration about the Bergdahl case. Apparently, Obama gave an interview last week to NPR where he stated that one of his remaining goals in office was to close Gitmo. Some political wheels began turning, and some tone-deaf advisers concocted the trade-release idea, to blunt the impact of letting these 5 guys go. The concern is that apparently no one considered the optics of allowing the President to go onto the lawn in the Rose Garden to make this pronouncement, and send Susan Rice out yet again to try to push the "returning hero" angle.

Sources were cited this morning that even publications like "Rolling Stone" had covered Bergdahl back in 2010 and 2011, and that his circumstances of disappearance were well known, and a Pentagon report was issued detailing many of the stories that have come to light in the last 3 days. More soldiers have spoken out, as well. Statements to the effect that "no one knows anything at this point" are laughable, due to the amount of material already in the official documents.

Also, quite a bit of bipartisan anger was voiced by Democrats last night over this.

If Congress had balls, Barry should be impeached for this

Jun 5, 2014, 9:42 AM

The problem is that the law would then go to a court challenge and it would most likely be struck down as unconstitutional as the President "shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States."

Which I think pretty clearly includes prisoner exchanges.

If Dubya got impeached for every law he ignored...

And Barry has a LOT of signing statements to make if he's going to catch up with Dubya's number!

B-b-but Bush!

What am I saying? PLEEEEASE impeach Barry!

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

I don't remember Bush speaking out against...

Signing statements during his campaign. I do recall President Obama being against them prior to his election.

I don't remember Bush doing anything during his campaign.

But yes, I agree that Barry is a hypocrite and this isn't the only example of that.

Every talking point and every headline should be:

Obama Traded five 4 star Generals for 1 DESERTER! There will be T-shirts and bumper stickers on this. For sure. Probably already in the works.

Has he been convicted yet? I still believe in innocents till proven guilty. If there is substantial evidence (and it looks like there is) he should be Court Martialed but till convicted he is a US Solider that was a prisoner of the Taliban and we should do whatever it takes to get a Solider back.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That makes sense.***
