Thinking about Milan Richards and his famous uncle Hershel..

...wanted someone that recalls the recruiting process we went through with Hershel Walker and how he wanted to be a Tiger but ended at UGA.
It was about two years before my affiliation with Clemson. Anyone recall the details of how that went down AND how Hershel always regretted not following his heart and going to Clemson.

I had a big fat wife and half a dozen kids to feed so it retarded my interest in recruiting until the kids were grown and she had me instutionalized.

He was about to go to Clemson and then became the owner of two TransAms as I recall it. Suddenly he was then going to Georgia. It was amazing

Yes. he was really set on Clemson and stayed in state for his mother

His mentor Coach in Georgia High School was Coach Tommy Jordon who grew up in Belton SC. Tommy had been a good H. S. football player and state champion in pole vault and high jump. He and Herschel hit it off real good since Herschel also loved track. Herschel spent a lot of time with Tommys family, even babysitting his kids. Tommy was the main reason of Hershels interest in Clemson. Not long after Hershel signed with Georgia Tommy took Head Coach/AD director job when Westminster and Oakway combined schools.Tommy and Hershel remain good friends to this day.

she says he spent all his time at Clemson, every weekend and some weekday nights... and he always rolled around town in a brand new ride, full of ladies. (he liked the white girls according to my mom)
