Thinking about going to the Clemson-BC game this fall

May 7, 2014, 10:23 AM

To those who have been, what did you like, what did you dislike, do they know how to tailgate?

I did not like it at all. Strongly advise you look further into it. We tailgated on the baseball field, one of the few available spots. But you can only arrive a couple hours beforehand of the game. And must be gone an hour after the game's conclusion and were very vocal about it. As were the tow trucks waiting on a quick buck. To be honest, there really ain't a tailgate scene.

However, we've since made friends with a local who's taken us in. She's a friendly old widow who doesn't mind us camping in her back yard. There's usually 6 or 7 groups of us. And if ya gotta go #2, well ya politely knock on the back door. But on Sundee morning she's out there bright and early offering ham biscuits. And let me tell ya, those are some heavenly biscuits.

So before ya head up to Chestnuthill, MA look into it. The traffic sucks and your better off taking the dreaded public transport. The tailgate scene? What tailgate scene.

Went up there four years ago. Stayed at Copley Place in the middle of Boston (Great). They do not know how to tailgate, my suggestion is to drink in the hotel bar and hop the "T" to the game. Students are obnoxious...more than most places (like to throw drinks and hot dogs at opposing fan base). Try to get tickets to a Red Sox game if possible (went on Friday night, and it was a great experience). Bostonians do not care about BC so don't expect anyone to know what the paw is for on your shirt, they think its a bear paw!

Best road trip you can make. Great city full of young people because of the numerous colleges in the area. Downtown is really good but be sure and go to Cambridge. Fenway and the Red Sox are worth the trip.

Tailgating doesn't exists in this urban environment but PLENTY to do. Great people.
