there will be no set backs in the defense and the

Offense is going to be good. This year is the year that Clemson football is going to start getting respected by all conferences. This is year is where its going to start. If our players can stay healthy it's going to be a great season tigers.

Defense will take a step back in the DL

Jan 9, 2015, 8:48 PM

No way you can lose that many great DL players and not take a step back. but back 7 will be as good or maybe better, will be better in the secondary. Won't be #1 but will stay top 20 top 15 defense though, which will be all we need with the offense that we're gonna have.

Biggest concern is depth in the front 7

Jan 10, 2015, 9:28 AM

nor for a lack of talent, but inexperience. The back ups stepping in to start like Lawson, Reader, Watkins, Dodd, Boulware and Goodson all have plenty of experience. Those behind them will not. It will be a D that gets better as the year goes on, and sets things up for an ultra competitive spring

We had experience from last year dline behind the seniors that left. I think our defense will be fun to watch. There's alot of talent up front and the secondary is going to play lights out.

Our D will be good ... but agree with BT

Jarrett and Beasley are superior ball players. If we get 80% of their performance, Defense will excel.

Depth on DL is issue compared to last year in my opinion.

We are losing most of that DL depth too. I think 6

of our top 9 from the depth chart are gone.

And 2 of them behind the seniors were seniors..

Jan 9, 2015, 9:14 PM [ in reply to Re: there will be no set backs in the defense and the ]

Tavaris Barnes and Josh Watson... the DL will take a step back for sure, but the back 7 will be the strong suit next year. And we are #1 overall, there is only place to go anyway, and that's back. We will not go that far back and are still a top 20 D, but next year will have a top 10 O to go along with it.

We won't be as deep on the DL next year

Jan 9, 2015, 9:43 PM [ in reply to Re: there will be no set backs in the defense and the ]

also Vennables said he'd take experience over talent all day. We will be youing on the DL, except for Reader, Watkins and Lawson. Will still be good, but DL will take step back from experienced depth like this year

Its not that our defensive line players were great, aside from Grady and Beasley. Crawford, WIlliams and Watson were all good. The great part of our defensive line w2as the depth factor and not losing a step when the 2nd or even 3rd units stepped on the field. The "great" part of our defensive line was the coaching they received and how well each player that came in were contributors. DT wise, Reader and Watkins will more than likely get the starting jobs. Pagano and probably Wilkins will be the 2nd unit. Not a lot of experience, but solid and will only get better the rest of the year. Lawson is solid at one DE, they other defensive end slot is where we need someone to step up. Ogu? Dodd? One needs to shine. Possibilities are endless.

Will we see a step back? Probably, but what does that mean. In yards allowed? Points allowed? Tackles for loss to go down? Sacks to go down?

Man, March cant get here fast enough.

We are already respected by all conferences. Its only the espn investment that doesnt

Jan 10, 2015, 11:02 AM

Ask any conference program or coach. Thats where it matters. In the past 4 years we have beaten Auburn Georgia LSU OSU Oklahoma and Scar. Throughout our program we have beaten Nebraska Notre Dame Penn St Miami aTm so I really dont see what difference a year makes. We already have done it all.

Dang...we just won 40 games the last 4 years. Don't we get respect for that?
