I think for me, the worst part of the portal isn't being upset about players leaving for what they consider to be better opportunities, it's the fear that there won't be many Tigers left going forward who are able to leave behind a long lasting legacy
Players like Tajh Boyd, Nuke Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, CJ Spiller , DW4, TLaw, Mike Williams , Christian Wilkins , Ben Boulware and many more who have left an impression on me as a Tiger fan and the joy I got from watching them stay 3 or 4 years to achieve a goal
I don't mean to be dramatic but it just seems like things are moving in a disingenuous direction where everything feels superficial. Hopefully this stuff doesn't ruin the way we all feel about Clemson football

It's a combination of things- the portal, improper use of NIL, bungling playoff committee, NCAA, cheating, Heistman, television dictating everything, lousy announcers, Gameday bs, fake injuries, long games, SECPN bias, lousy refereeing, many uninteresting games, conferences and rivalries getting flushed. Have I missed anything?

You pretty much summed it up. I am a fairly young man (37) but I am thankful I got to witness 2 Clemson National Championships and experience football the way it was before all this.

Pretty sure you nailed the biggest fallacies. How low if all has sunk! I never thought I’d live long enough to see this practice that uga has been using for most of my lifetime become okay. How low we have sunk!

Interesting take. I thought about this the other day and actually came away with the exact opposite conclusion. Now it will be much more special. When someone, like Barrett Carter, stays for their senior year or remains at the university their entire tenure, it’ll be that much more rare and special.

He is actually the reason I thought about it. He didn’t elect to go into college football NIL free agency or the NFL, could’ve done either. Definitely a rarity.

It may not even be unhappiness with where they are but just want to try something new. Kinda like Girard for us this year.
