The System

It’s frankly tough for me to discern the dirt raid concepts scattered among the patented dabo bubble screen, run for 0-1 yds on 1st down offense, and there’s been more than enough chatter about taking the gloves off and letting Riley control the offense. Problem is, not only do we not know what the playcalling dynamic between the hc and oc really is, but I’m not sure it would matter with the state of the offense. Even if Riley can effectively scheme us down the field, we lack the basic fundamentals to execute, blocking, route running, ball security, etc. That takes coaching. You can’t throw nerds running around with Microsoft surfaces at these issues. And whatever is being called Klubnik has nowhere to go with the football downfield, and his vision is bad enough as it is. Teams don’t have to respect 20+ yd passing and can always bring an extra safety or lb to trash our anemic o line and take away the run/screen game. I’m seeing a lot about benching Klubnik, but without a top-to-bottom position coaching change particularly o line and wr corps I don’t see any of this changing. The System is rotten from the inside and hot qb recruits and flashy coordinators aren’t going salvage it

not sure who he got it from but we’ve run variations for years and it’s a horrible play other than the dozen times that Etienne made it work. I have seen 0 improvement with it this year

defense is forced to sprint towards the sidelines. It's sort of demic to spreads.
Plyler[from Jeff Scott?], DHood, I believe Williams and other insiders have reported Riley is running it, and the we if referring to fans don't really need to know anyway - not really our purview even if some may think so. I 'magine it's frustrating for people to only get ~5% or so of the information.

uh, Riley came in to run the 'Clemson' offense. Well, it's worse than ever..... so yeah, Riley needs to run his offense or let him go.

It's the O he ran at TCU, GR said so; it's been a "branding" thing for Dabo...

“Branding” is a great way to put it. This is exactly the point I was making

knew they were walking into the same relative system they committed to playing under and if things work out with GR, the same can be delivered going forward inside the program and out.
It was theChad's Malzahn offense then and now the offense Sonny Dykes & GR ran at TCU/SMU, which focuses on 50/50 balance, run/pass, intended to be able to take what the defense gives - included in that the screen game.
I read your OP, which a lot of folks might not without some separation/paragraphs. Just a suggestion.
Have a great night.

My whole point was that Riley is neither the problem nor the solution. As the good Heisman winner pointed out many of his designs from tcu carried over and are very similar to what we were already running. I’m arguing the impact he has on the biggest issue with this system that Dabo won’t shut up about is negligible, because the system is incredibly basic and predictable, but elite, well-coached talents on offense especially the skill positions made it work. Over the last three seasons we’ve lost all of those coaches and left our 4 and 5 star recruits in development purgatory. This season we’re finally discovering the bottom of this trajectory, and Riley couldn’t have stopped a ### n thing

I don't like what I saw from a route combination stand point yesterday. Too many plays there were 2 wrs with in 3 yards of each other. Where's the spacing? Why are you creating funnel points where a single defender can cover 2 guys effectively?
