I hate to say that I'm in this camp, and it's not because of his fumbles or pocket awareness. I know he can't help the O-line, and I know how accurate he can be.
It's for one single reason, and it's that last play. He defied the coaches. It's the second time we lost in overtime because Cade called his own shot against the coach's wishes. They gave him RPO against FSU and he chose the wrong O. Then they don't even give him that option and he calls a dumb play.
I question whether he can be trusted to do what coaches ask when the game is on the line.

If nothing else I’d let him sit the first series of NCSU to send the message. Dabo looks like a walkover if he lets that slide, and like you said, it’s twice now.

Yeah, after FSU, okay, we can move past it. Dabo let him hear it. I'm sure others did too.
Saturday night was a "#### this, I know what's best" decision that cost us the game.
Clearly getting in his ear about these decisions didn't work.

But most aren’t good. Pull when he should hand off. Throw into double coverage when another receiver is running free. Scramble backwards when the pocket is there to step up in. I don’t get it.

Cade doesn't deserve the lion's share of the blame by any means; plenty earned that Saturday night. And yeah, that 2 point conversion would have been tough.
But he called his own number when the coaches didn't want him to. That's a big problem.

In the first half, you could have added two more TD’s to our score. Riley was calling a great game at that point and Cade started off throwing dimes.

He is either
A) dumb, I mean, not saying not intelligent, but brain turns off on the field. Either doesn't know play signals well, loses it in the heat of the play, I dunno
or
B) arrogant. If this is the case, whoa we got a problem because the level of brashness required to defy coaches on a play to win (stay in it) or lose the game, that ain't going to go away quietly. It does go back somewhat to A, I mean there was no way pulling the ball was going to work with that blocking scheme.
I know we are trying to redshirt the next guy, but let him play one of his four games this weekend.
One silver lining, I will be blessed with the inability to watch as my provider and the CW don't play nice together

yep, was Cade vs 2 unblocked defenders without audibling at least blocking protection, the DE dove, but LB ate him up, and Cade ain't making anyone miss in open field

I suspect Dabo is punishing Cade at practice for deciding to not run the called play. He should absolutely sit him at least the first series if not two to show Cade his place.
Even if he had scored and even if we had converted on the 2 pt conversion and ultimately gone on to win the game, Cade should be punished for what he did.
Frankly, I'm surprised Dabo wasn't ballistic coming off the field or in the presser.

Maybe Dabo’s anger towards Cade was tempered by the fact we were bullied by an average team with poor coaching and a back up true freshman quarterback.
I’d give Cade more leeway actually, he made some plays passing. I’d bench Shipley and Mafah for the freshmen, and let Riley call a Mike Leach style game where Cade throws it 55 times. Running it in between the tackles should be scrubbed from the playbook.

Andy Teasdall probably wishes Dabo threw his cap after Andy decided not to punt and run for the first down in the ACCCG against UNC. That was a sustained tongue lashing.
Cade deserved at least some of that coming off the field.

but me thinks if Cade truly went off the reservation on that playcall then he should probably sit a series or two at NC State. Give Hunter Helms a chance to play and see where it takes us. If the offense clicks under Helms at NC State then keep playing him.
I like Cade - he has the physical skill and talent to be really good but he has got to grow up mentally to the college game. At this point, this season has become somewhat of an open slate since we have zero chance of an ACC championship appearance. That "championship run" pressure is off the plate and the youth on this team need to embrace the remaining practices and games as a building block for next years team.

I would start with our OL and DL/LB way before our QB.
Our lines on both sides of the ball got their #### whopped on Saturday night. I've not seen a team pound a running game down our def throat that consistently in some years.
The big 'ens need to do some soul searching this week.
QB play wasn't perfect, but he made enough solid plays and some great plays for us to win. The fact is he's a sophomore and we aren't used to having Fr/So at the position that look like Fr/So.

It's for defiance of the coaches. Cade's turnovers are frustrating but he's also accurate as hell and made some great plays. But he has twice defied coaches when the game was on the line.

him to be replace it's for sure we lack the knowledge of his backup to make that type of statement. Example: We wondered why Dabo didn't replace DJ last year and now we've figured it out the hard way.
We also don't know how Cade would react to being replaced as starter. I doubt he would transfer but it would be adding insult to injury and might damage his efforts to master his craft.
Then, there's a good chance that sitting his sorryask on the bench for a game might light a fire which we all desperately hope for.
