The reason many people hate what happened at Colorado

Sep 6, 2023, 10:50 AM

is because it signals the death of college football as we know it. When a coach can come in and replace 80+ players in a year, this is not college football, this is NFL-lite. Kids aren't committing any longer, in fact one article suggested that everyone should enter the portal every year to maximize their NIL.

I don't think the genie is going back in the bottle (though I have hope for a bit of common sense regulation), so Dabo needs to adjust if he wants continued on field success. It should be alarming that he sees himself primarily as a developer of men and less about on-field results

I love Dabo, and this isn't a major slam, but he must adapt his approach to survive in the new world. Otherwise, put him in charge of PAW journey and find someone who can blend recruiting freshmen and transfers in the portal world. Colorado and FSU are showing what happens when you use the portal. We are evidence of what happens when one refuses to use it.

Colorado beat what most will soon realize to be a bad TCU team and FSU was going to be fine regardless. Finished last season very strong.

Yes, TCU is not good this year

but Colorado is way better than most thought. They are going bowling.

FSU was good, now great. #14 looked unstoppable - transfer. Took a good roster and improved it greatly. Had they simply recruited freshmen (like us), they would still be behind us. Now that are in the Natty conversation. Us - well, we were thanked for stopping by.

#14 for FSU (the monster WR Johnny Wilson) was known for dropped passes when at AZ (or was it AZ State?)

He still drops too many passes at FSU. I think he had 3 easy drops against LSU. #14 was a desperate roll of the dice for a junk FSU team after the end of their 2021 season. They got lucky. No good program would have gambled on him. Congrats to FSU for winning this small pot portal lottery, though.

Their new WR portal guy (the guy from MI State), on the other hand, was a home run portal pickup. Who knows how much he cost FSU? Let’s face it; if FSU doesn’t make it to ACC Championship game this year, then Norbille is back on the hot seat. They lose too much after this season to be expected to remain as a likely contender for ACC Championship in 2024. They won’t get a portal hero at QB to save them in 2024. They need some home grown talent to keep them as a contender.

One they beat a depleted over ranked TCU team (lets see how great he is when they play a georgia or Michigan( but the reason people hate Colorado is that Neon Deion represents everything bad about athletes and is simply the biggest ####### on the planet

Colorado will be a flash in the pan...

I just don't think you can build anything with 59 portal players. But the likes of Bama, FSU, and even Duke who have struck a balance will continue to thrive.

Yep! I expect the NFL buys up college football and makes it a semi pro league with no affiliation with the schools except for the use of their name and colors.

It is the death of college football. It's no less

professional than the NFL now. In fact the NFL is now more pure than college. If people want to pretend it's still good old college football, when one for the alma mater, etc, that's fine. But it's a farce.
