Racial Profilling, the NSA, and the Nutty Right Fringe:

Jul 25, 2013, 12:55 PM

We've heard a lot in the past few weeks about how necessary racial profiling is and I agree. When most of the crimes in an area or neighborhood or street are committed by young black males, then it's common sense for police to profile young black males when crimes are committed in these areas.

Unbelieveably, a lot of these same people have screamed the loudest about the NSA's collection of phone records being used in the war on terror. Isn't their screaming akin to innocent blacks screaming about being profiled? Many of the screamers don't trust the Obama Administration, thinking they will use the information gained from the NSA for political purposes because of past history. Many black screamers don't trust police officers because of past history.

Helll, George Zimmerman isn't even a trained police officer. Like I said above, I agree with profiling and I can see how a neighborhood security watch would use it to their advantage like anyone else. But they should never be allowed to get out of their vehicles and confront the person. They should stay inside of the vehicles with the doors locked for their safety as well as the potential tragedy that could happen to the suspect.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Just wow.

The NSA isn't profiling though...

Jul 25, 2013, 4:29 PM

And that's the problem. If the NSA were selctively collecting data only from Muslims there would not exist this level of public outrage. Instead, to put it in analogical terms, Big Brother has decided it's best to monitor not only the legitimtely suspicious "man in the hoodie" but also the little old lady who lives two doors down from you and made the mistake of switching to Verizon.

(And, yes, I used the term "analogical" in a reply to TXTF)

Didn't that coincide with many terroirst attacks though.

Jul 25, 2013, 5:58 PM

I think it's pretty hypocritical to be for profiling but against the NSA gathering data in the war on terror.

Profiling is unconstitutional and so is what the NSA is doing. I don't have a problem with either if they make us safer.
