The ND head coach, the Bama head coach, the Oregan

Dec 3, 2012, 1:16 PM

head coach...

You ever watch them ? A team comes off the field after a decent play or a made field goal and they are stroking out over the left tackle who "almost" blew it by not doing something.

Or chewing out a reciever who wasnt blocking on the near side, when the play gained 15 to the otherside.

Never satisfied. Never.

Until about 15 minutes after the victory....when they can start turning the blood pressure down a notch or two.

I thought that was how it was supposed to be done.

Maybe it's because this is the way we were raised and the way were coached and tried to coach....

Frank Martin must be the greatest coach ever.

Dec 3, 2012, 1:19 PM

I've seen him spend 2 hours cursing out a player because their free throw wasn't nothing but net.

Dec 3, 2012, 1:22 PM

If the guy haphazardly stood 3 feet behind the free throw line....then yeah....chew his a$$ out.

Or you saying those 3 coaches are psyco T like the Martin guy ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nah, Bo Pelini

he has to go to the hospital on occasion after blowing a gasket in the sidelines

Remember when Steele passed out on the sidelines

Not sure there is a correlation to success in being an intense/emotional coach. You still have to understand the Xs and Os and be a good leader.

Tom Landry , I'm sure knew the X's and O's....but Chuck Noll

Dec 3, 2012, 1:38 PM

owned him.

Guess I'm saying that I am seeing we do take the lead from the head.

And I'm from a different era.... Bo Shembeckler and Danny Ford would rather take a beating than a chest bump.

Maybe Venables can instill some of his tenacity into our defense.....cause I don't see it coming from anyone else.

Hasn't helped Venables a whole lot has it?

Guess that makes NC State coach Amato the greatest ever?***

Chuck the Chest has nothing on those 3....even in the rant department

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They usually also do flying chest bumps and high five

the fans in the first row, the cameras just don't show it.

All 3 are called "douches" as well. Theres tons of different coaching styles. What about Muschamp? He's not on the level of those 3 yet but he's more of an inspired cheering type of coach more like Dabo and Florida is pretty good.

coach that went to SCjr, and he's done an amazing job for them...but....just doesn't strike me as a football coach.

Guess I'm stuck in the 80's.....

came back to lead them again. The stadium is named after him, which should show his stature in the Jayhawk State.

He's a Bill Walsh type of coach, a strategist and manager. Nothing wrong with that.

Two words to look @ the opposite side of that approach......."John Wooden".

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

His pyramid of success is on my youngest boys wall.

Dec 3, 2012, 1:41 PM

I'm well aware of Coach Wooden.

And he started with how you put on your socks correctly....in a fairly tame sport.

Not how you take off someones head when they catch a pass on a slant route.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ND, Bama & Oregan should recruit better left tackles - geez!***
