The trainers run on and off the field more than the players do!! I bet they are in better shape than the players too. Even the announcers are talking about it!!

My solution:

A player who leaves the field due to injury will not be allowed to return for
1. the remainder of the drive by the team with the ball at the time of injury
or
2. 3 plays
whichever is longer.

Problem with my solution: It will encourage players who are injured to try and get off the field under their own power, thereby making the injury worse.

Once upon a time when a player was injured and couldn't leave the field the team was charged a time out. That caused injured players to try and get themselves off the field, thereby making the injury worse. The rule was instituted for player safety. Now, it is being abused.
