Tajh Boyd deserves more credit
Jan 31, 2017, 11:16 AM

For setting the stage for where we are today. I believe the turning point for our program was the Bowl Game vs LSU. Tajh gave us absolutely everything he had and willed us to that program changing victory. Without a Tajh Boyd I don't believe we have a DW4. Thank you Tajh!

For me it began when we were able to get CJ. I remember when he committed and how huge that was for not just the program but for the fan base also. Everything else filtered into place with big time recruits and certainly big time coaching hires. So glad I can say I have witnessed a title now.

We all have witnessed Dabo making good on his words when he was hired. After his hiring speech, a lot laughed saying that Dabo was in way over his head. But he made it look kinda easy orchestrating a National Championship team!!! Dabo Swinney is a very smart, very determined man!!!

Saying he needs more credit most definitely implies he doesn't get enough credit.
Saying I need more money at work clearly implies I'm not making enough. Similar to saying you should post less on Tigernet is akin to the fact you post too much.
Still waiting for you to explain who all these people are who aren't giving him enough credit? Clemson nation will forever love Boyd and give tons of credit towards where we are today.

Agree completely on Tajh. 100%
But the Hot Rod blitz pickup block on 4th and 16 is what kickstarted this whole little fun ride. That was the first little knock on the door.
After we beat Ohio St Next year to win the Orange Bowl, we kicked the door slap in. Sent the message we weren't going anywhere, and were ready to play with anybody, anytime.

I know they love and respect him, but I don't believe they see the huge role he played in getting us here. No offense to Cole, but if he was our QB instead of Boyd we 1. Wouldn't be National Champs right now 2. Would prob be running a different offensive system.

But that may just be the different impressions of fans that we've heard from and talk to.
He's easily one of my favorite Tigers of all time. He went out there and played hard and made stuff happen. The mere fact that he was willing to duck his head and get a yard against multiple hard hitting linebackers when we had to have it is enough for me to stand and applaud.

I agree with Boyd deserving more credit, but I would contribute the win over LSU more to their OC that kept passing the ball and leaving enough time on the clock and our timeouts. If he runs the ball 3 times and punts, then Boyd would never have had time for 4th-and-16. The OC was fired later. He sucked. Anyone could have won that game for LSU if they had enough sense to manage the clock. Too late now. That play was the turning point in both CLEMSON and LSU's future programs. We went UP and they went down. It will be years before LSU is back to where they were.

But if they had tried to run, we would've used our TO's after stopping them, and the entire last sequence would've been different.
RUnning would've given them a better chance to win, but I think we still had that drive even without the TO's.

Now that I'm understanding where I went wrong, where do I go to give Boyd more credit, and how much? I want to do the right thing by Boyd, 'cause it's the CLEMSON way. I'm not Catholic, so I don't understand the "Hail Mary" thing at all, so is it anything like that? I'm going to need some guidance 'cause I failed Credit-101.

Well you have to go way back. It really started in 1999.
We are coming off 3-8 season. Facilities way behind. Tommy Bowden is hired. Brings RichRod as OC. Offense is exciting, takes #1 FSU to the brink. Bowden pushes for better facilities... West EndZone starts to take shape. Bowden gets program from bad to respectable, though never approaches elite. Recruiting improves... Bowden hires Dabo. James Davis commits... leads to... CJ Spiller commits... Program sniffs next level but 2008 Alabama game happens... Reality sets in, we arent close yet. Dabo hired as HC Tajh Boyd Commits... First ACC-A title 2011 recruiting class First ACC title in 20 years First Orange Bowl appears.. but ouch Beats UGA Beats LSU in bowl game Beats Ohio State in bowl game Destroys Oklahoma in bowl game.. while an underdog Wins ACC again Destroys Oklahoma in bowl game.. while an underdog Makes first CFP Wins ACC again Makes 2nd CFP Wins 2nd National Title
It started small... but while there has been ups and downs but the program has been on the rise since '99, A lot of people deserve credit. Bowden got us out of the gutter, got facilties moving and hired Dabo. Dabo took the foundation, got some great players to come here and took it the rest of the way.
Awesome time to be a Clemson Tiger.
