The Clemson Approach vs. the FSU Approach

IMO, FSU knows they don't have a legal leg to stand on to leave the ACC but they refuse to settle for the status quo and want to get the ball rolling NOW. So they are going negative to stir things up, muddy the water and and maybe have the other schools want to kick them out. I suppose it's also possible they think there are legal means for them to leave without paying $120 million while still having no GOR until 2037. Either way or a combination of the two could force a negotiated settlement that would make sense for FSU.

Clemson, on the other hand, seems to clearly understand the concept of being in jail with the key thrown away. You can kick and scream as loud as you want, bang your head against the bars but all that will get you is a sore throat and a bloody forehead.

I've stated many times I don't give a care about the ACC and other teams in the conference. My only rooting interest is Clemson football. If FSU goes rogue, absorbs a lot of punishment and breaks free, perhaps it will allow us to take the same road without the flak and collateral damage.

I have no doubt Dabo and the administration desire to leave the ACC but want to be thoughtful, respectful and methodical. Perhaps they are patient enough to let FSU clear the brush and fight the wild animals before strolling down the same path.

FSU also has a law school full of homers to do their legal work.

No easy answers no matter how you approach it and most likely the same outcome as well...

At the end of the day, I just don't see how they get around the payoff to leave but maybe they will find a way. Or, they get 6 other schools to join them and break the GOR.
