The ACC

Jan 28, 2015, 9:12 AM

is by far the greatest basketball conference in the country, so why is it that our programs, Clemson being one, aren't able to sell ACC basketball in the same respect that the SEC programs are able to sell SEC football. We should have no problem recruiting players to come play in the ACC. Seems like it should be an easy sell. I know we're considered more of a football school and that's fine with me, but why can't we be good at both. A school like Clemson should be able to recruit basketball players the same way we recruit football players. I can't imagine a kid in this state that wouldn't want to play against UNC, Duke, Louisville, Syracuse, Virginia.

Tradition. Vanderbilt is in the SEC and playing football is

like Clemson in the ACC playing basketball. We have no tradition or quite frankly we don't have the cultural affinity for basketball. John Heisman set our course early and marked us as a football school--we have tradition and affinity in this area. JMHO.

We don't try to hire the Pitino's, the Calipari's, the Williams of the basketball world to coach our team. Even someone like Mark Few at Gonzaga or Greg Marshal at WSU would allow CLEMSON to do just fine. CLEMSON admins have always done this, and will continue to undermine the wants/needs of the BBall fans. It is how it is. If you want it changed - start with our Admins.

The Pitinos, Caliparis, and Williams of the basketball

coaching world wouldn't come to Clemson. I doubt Mark Few would consider us either.

Everyone in the conference can't be great though. I agree

sort of but you can say the same about UNC, Duke, Wake, State, UVA, GT, Syracuse, Louisville, Pitt, and BC, and all of these schools have more basketball tradition than we do. Plus they all have fan bases that support basketball better than we do except for maybe GT.

that isn't 100 % accurate

Big games. . Unc..duke..Louisville... Syracuse. . See increased attendance.

Basketball has several things working against it.. even for the big programs.

Football is king. . Bottom line.
Football is typically plaid on sat. Off days are rare and special. Bb plays all times of the day on any day.

7 home football games. . Like twenty home bb games m

Basketball really has to rely heavily on student pArticipation.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”
