Syracuse's Only Game Under 50 points

Feb 6, 2014, 4:56 PM

Was against Miami, at home.

To stay close, Clemson will have to play D better than Miami.

And be able to hit some 3's and seam shots vs. the zone.

I had hopes of us shooting threes better this year but we have not so much the last few games. I keep hoping we will get that aspect back on track. Actually we had about three good open looks versus gt late we would normally hit. we got none of those but Blossomgame or someone hit one after the three misses.

I like your posts and insight and would only add that we must use KJ as the foul line post up man as his abilities will enable him to shoot, drive or drive and dump off. Agree? And if not, who should we post up with?

I assume you are talking about running something akin to

what Duke ran, but the problem with that is that Duke had one of their big men (which are really just PFs) playing that role and all of them are at least moderately skilled with the ball in their hands. We can't do that with Nnoko or Djambo in the game b/c they can't be trusted with the ball in their hands there and where else do you put them on the court?

The whole concept behind Duke's offense was to make the zone collapse on one guy in the middle and put 4 shooters out beyond the arc to create space. I just don't see us possessing the shooters nor the big man to put there at the foul line. If you put KJ there you either have 5 guards/SFs on the floor at the same time and get murdered inside by Fair and Grant on the DEF end or you have Nnoko/Djambo out there on the base line 15-20 feet from the basket.

The outlook for this game is just bleak. This is probably the worst possible matchup for us offensively.

never even looked or even attempted to make an inside move.

If we get a PF in that position that gets aggressive toward the hoop I believe it will open up the Cuse zone. We would be making a lot of trips to the line or they would have a ton of "so-called" blocks on the no calls. Either way trying to shoot the ball from the arc for the Tigers is a recipe for disaster. We don't have as good 3 shooters as Dook.

I hope we take it to them. It might be possible to get them in foul trouble. (Dang, I almost started laughing at that when I typed it) Cuse in foul trouble at home....what was I thinking!

Clemson, imo, won't reach 40 points.

Hate to feel this way but if the Tigers only lose by 15 or less, I'll be satisfied.
