.... let's not jump on the bandwagon just yet.
Wins against UL, UConn, Purdue, UVA, Wagner.
Not exactly murderer's row.
Remaining schedule: NCSU, Clemson, ND, Pitt, FSU, Wake, and BC.
They could be playing BC needing to win that game to become bowl eligible.

True. We also need them to win all non-conference games and Coastal games so our SOS will be better.

Syracuse was 2-6 last year, 5-7 overall.
They are a much better team this year.
No one gets to 5-0 without being a solid team.
Question is whether they've turned a corner or is this a peak year and things return to normal next year. I don't care enough to check their roster.

Purdue is a solid team. I suspect they will win the Big 10 West- or whatever they call that side.

Syracuse has 75 players scheduled to come back next year.
Injuries in prior years did us in. We lost 3 games by 3 points each last year.

Syracuse always gives us the fits. I won't even think anything negative about them. I haven't forgotten when our players had to clean up the dressing room while feeling the loss.

This^^^. The Cuse is more times than not a thorn in our side and weird things happen in that game. I would be worried about them even if they were 1-4.
Glad that we have them at home.

Bretfsu - I have watched the Orange and they are pretty good.
They always have basketball players at WR and it's true this year as well. 6'5 wr who also has good hands. Plus, they have the kid that lead the nation in rushing as a freshman. You have to pay attention to him; so you can't afford to drop that safety over to help on the 6'5 and 6'4 wr. So, they end up with 1 0n 1's where your CB either gets a D.P.I or gives up a completion or on occasion a PBU.
The Orange have also only given up 70 pts this year! And, Purdue has a very nice QB and offense. I watched that whole game and they are pretty good for certain.

Good call ... Purdue has a good football team.
Beating Purdue is 'Cuse's best victory thus far.
Yep, 'Cuse has a good FB team; their QB is a genuine threat, their RB is a star, and their D isn't too bad.

I was looking at NCAA Stats earlier today and I was somewhat surprised to find Syracuse highly ranked ( especially in comparison to Clemson) in almost every category. You expect to find the usual suspects there , Alabama, OhioSt, Georgia but repeatedly running across Syracuse I thought was noteworthy. Yes , there schedule leaves a lot to be desired and they barely escaped a couple of those contests. I'm sure they have our attention. They certainly have mine

Cuse being 5-0 is a huge accomplishment considering they may have been the worst teams in the ACC only two years ago. Last year they were still bad just not the worst (GT). This is a great coaching job by Dino.
Also I absolutely will not mark that as a W for Clemson. They have been the thorn in our side for a few years now.

They have a dynamic RB.
A 6'6 WR a 6'2 WR and the little guy in the slot is 5'11.
The QB - Shrader is much like the kid they had when they gave us so much trouble. Unreasonably confident and poised. We will have to play well to beat them.
Plus, I think they changed DC. They have the defense playing well; I have to admit. Although, you do have to consider the competition a bit.
I agree. You can't count it as a W - at all. Not with Syracuse.

But with several new prospects, the Orange are poised for a breakout year in the pass-catching phase. WAER's Colin Bock breaks down SU's wide receivers and tight ends.

I put teams into two categories...
Oct 4, 2022, 8:24 PM
|
|
1. Teams that we play or could potentially play in a given year - with only one exception of all college football teams - these I provide respect in advance of the on field meeting - on the chance they win the game - even though I know with absolute certainly we will curb stomp most of them.
2. South Carolina

On the other hand, 5-0 is just one game from bowl eligibility if you are in their shoes.

Agree. Jury is still out in my view. We'll see how they look against Nancy Tate in a couple of weeks. Clemson's biggest challenge this season will be keeping its best players on the field, more so than any opponent on the schedule.

Games years ago need to just STOP the madness. Go to your safe space, call your therapy person, go to a Woke rally but don't simper endlessly here about how Clemson should worry about Suckacuse.
Just save it when we have to play in the CFP.

I personally think they could achieve 8 wins this year. ND is a very possible win, Wake is possible, FSU is possible (sorry Bret), NCSU is possible if they're sleep walking, BC is very possible and so is Pitt. Heck, they're thorn in our side, that's why I have them circled as one of our toughest remaining games.
They're not great but they're solid and find ways to win. Good teams do that. On top of their QB being servicable and Sean Tucker is a good running back that you have to account for every play.

Bret, curious your thoughts on which games you think are guaranteed L’s for Syracuse… I agree that it’s far to early to jump on the bandwagon and they’ll lose some games along the way, but outside of ‘at Wake’ I don’t see anything as a guaranteed loss.
