Stinks for KJ,

Feb 25, 2015, 9:25 PM

He's buried on the depth chart now and won't be playing much this year.

The sixers was a great scenario for a rookie to come into. Now he'll have to watch from the bench unless somebody gets hurt.

Could be he'll play more once he gets used to how they do things.

100% agree he won't get as many minutes. BUT I do think he will get his money from the Rockets. They wouldn't trade for him, bury him in the depth chart, and then not resign him. Rocket's coach (McHale) said something like "Play him?! I just meant him 3 days ago?!" Hopefully he will find a spot in the rotation

Just turned it on

I guess he hasn't played tonight? He'll have to earn playing time from Ariza or Brewer.. But he did just get there, maybe he'll see pt after becoming comfortable with the others on the team and Mchale.

The Sixers weren't going to resign him next year, so trading him for players that will be with them next year was in their best interest. Even if he was starting for the Rockets he wouldn't get many touches in their lineup. He is going to have to improve his outside shooting and ball handleing to become an everyday player on a very good team.

As others have mentioned previously, he has done enough this season to secure a nice raise next year from whatever team ponies up the cash. When the playoffs roll around I would be shocked if he wasn't in the regular rotation and getting "good" minutes. Might be only 10-15 but they will be meaningful. I still think this is a good fit.

Two sides to that coin. While he won't be

playing as much, there are some good veterans on the team he can learn from. Not so much with the Sixers. I can see a second team line up of Terry, KJ, Brewer, T Jones, and Smith that would be devastatingly fast and fun to watch.

Rockets are looking at him as a future piece that is the only way this trade makes sense.

They want the Restricted part of his RFA status.

Im guessing they think they are going to lose a piece or two next season.
