Stat: How to beat Oregon St! Let DJ pass the ball

In the 4 losses for Oregon St this year, DJ’s pass attempts were 34, 30, 31 and 35 times.
In 8 wins his attempts were 25, 13, 30, 25, 25, 24, 24 and 19.
From an opponents game strategy, stop Oregon States run game and force DJ to pass!
Interesting!
Go Tigers!

Normally teams throw more when they are playing from behind.

the number of idiots on this board trying to take one more chunk out of DJ's hide is entirely embarrassing.
You can talk about the Old South and its racism, and its elitism, and its lack of good jobs, and its lack of reasonable education, et al, etc., ad nauseam
all you like,
but GD it, at least we had some manners and respect for others.

Interesting that the DJ haters overlook the fact that we have the same number of losses as Oregon State and they have played a much tougher schedule. Interesting indeed.

His point was stop the run and make DJ throw to beat OSU. My point was that is what they say about us now too.

OP provides some interesting statistics.
I don’t know why oleMike and Valley boy make the leap from football and statistics to DJ haters.
I can’t speak for others. But myself, I like DJ, I met him in person, super nice guy, but the guy is a mediocre college quarterback at best. I do not hate him. I am not a DJ hater. I like DJ as a person. But looking at statistics it’s reasonable to say that the guy is a mediocre college quarterback and does not appear to be an NFL quarterback prospect right now. Maybe he gets better. I hope he does.
I hope every player in the nation gets better, except each one on the dirtpecker roster.
Don’t tell me I’m a DJ hater. Don’t bring race into to this.

Well stated. I like DJ too and thank him for his 22 wins as a starter at Clemson. As you stated, the reality of him having a meaningful career in the NFL is pretty low. His current draft projection has him signing as an undrafted free agent. If he wants to try and keep the dream alive, it looks like he should come back to college for his last season and show some significant improvement.

I feel sorry for both of you idiots - apparently you can't read at all

The OP correlates OSU losses to # of passes by DJU. That's the only point he makes. Unlike either of you, he doesn't talk about DJU's NFL prospects, and I'm not quite sure why either of you would drift into such pie-in-the-sky opinion other than you simply can't read.
But Clawing17 makes the valid retort to the OP by pointing out that falling behind early sometimes forces teams to throw more. In other words, a team is more likely to lose not because they are passing, but instead because they're already behind and then have to pass.
Further to the embarrassment of the OP, I made the point that teams who rely on the run face a conundrum if the Opponent is able to stop their running game. This is what happened last night - OSU could not effectively run against Oregon. As consequence, OSU had to fall back on a passing game that has certain problems associated with it, most obvious being that their two most prolific receivers are both 5'7" tall. Teams like Oregon and Washington with long speed at CB tend to give these receivers difficulty to the point that OSU's chances of winning are lessened dramatically when they can't run.
The overall point is that Hating on DJU includes presumptively associating "Losing" to only him. Last night, OSU's OL got whipped consistently, their backs weren't fast enough to get to the edge, the WR's couldn't get separation on anything but short crossers, and OSU's defense got generally fricasseed by Oregon's O.
There were plenty of reasons why OSU lost in addition to DJU being unable to make plays. In general though, OSU didn't lose because DJU was inaccurate. In fact, he was complimented on making several very difficult throws by the announcers. Even on the INT, he was spot on, but the WR simply wasn't open. Down 3 scores with less than 2 minutes to go though, throwing downfield is something you have to do. Could DJU's field and route awareness have been better? Absolutely. But as I said - relative the OP's stupid notion - OSU lost because a myriad of reasons, and not just DJU.
So yeah, you were "Hating" by following down the rabbit hole of the OP and then throwing in your suppositions. Your verbal reasoning failed, and you were off an running, notably throwing me under the bus while you were at it.

How unusual. I can’t believe a defense would have a plan like “stop the run and force them to pass”. Radical.
Poor attempt to bash DJ…HTH
