Here's a little help for you youngsters trying to deal with

Feb 15, 2016, 9:44 PM

the coot spin concerning Tom Herman. (Here is where experience and age comes in handy). The coots are saying that they lost Herman because of an upset by The Citadel. First, this is not the first time they have lost to The Citadel. Second, in 1998, the Coots went 1-10,with losses to Vandy, Kentucky well before those teams were the SEC powerhouses they have been of late, AND MARSHALL.( Although, Marshall was a powerhouse)....Yet, that in no way stopped the Coots from hiring yet another legendary coach in none other than Lou Holtz, who, much to the dismay of many rabid coots, proceeded to go ...Oh and Eleven.

And after a few short years, and two flashes in the pan where the 2nd legend ( albeit,a usurped legend) managed to beat a mediocre Ohio State team two years in a row in the Downunder Bowl, Old Lou not only guided the Coots to the worst loss to Clemson ever in 2003, but also followed that up with an even worse beat down by the Tigers in 2004,both numerically and physically which ended in the infamous brawl that led to the Coots volunteering not to go to a bowl game.

And alas, even that did not stop the Coots from hiring the third legendary coach in their history in none other than the OBS himself, Mr. 85 footer, quitter in mid stream, and none other than Steven Orr Spurrier. At this point the Coots have now hired three coaches who won National Titles in division one football. Pepsodent Paul at LSU, Lou Holtz at Notre Dame, and Steve Spurrier at Florida. Not one of them, however, won a single championship at South Carolina. Not one.

Now, knowing all of that, you are prepared to not only refute the current spin from the Coots that Herman was, yes, indeed had agreed to become the next coach at South Carolina, but to also dismiss it as entirely fiction. Do you actually believe a head coach at the division 1 level, could know all of this Coot history and agree to terms with Ray Tanner in week 7 or 8, and then, because of a loss to The Citadel in week 11.....say," Never mind...I'm good in Houston".

Except some low to mid-level bowl games over big-name teams not in their prime strength.

The record speak for itself..even with some nice wins here & there against UGa, Bammer once when #1 (congrats) and Tigers 5 straight (congrats again)..the overall end result was to reach a high pinnacle that looked great for several seasons, and then the usual fall back to the barnyard for loose corn.

“Clemson wasn’t that much better with Trevor Lawrence, if at all.”

The largest margin of victory in the series belongs to Clemson. 51-0 in 1900.

Shixty-shree to Sheventeen is to largest margin of victory in the television era.

FYI - USuC's largest margin of victory in the series is 56-20 in 1975.
